    Closet to bathroom conversion

Peter was very pleasant when we met and he showed great photos of his previous work, so we hired him. He provided what we thought was a reasonable time estimate to complete the job so we could return the room to use ASAP. The problems started when his plumber took forever to figure out the supply and waste lines and flooded us twice. The first incident was not catastrophic, but the second time it leaked through our brand new living room ceiling. We had voiced our concerns regarding the skill of the plumber, but Peter insisted that the plumber was skilled since he had his Master License. Long story short, it took FOUR different pluming sub-contractors to finish the job and the shower fixtures are misaligned, not flush with the shower walls and the drain in the sink is crooked.

The next issue was with his carpenter. He did a fine job with demo and cleaned up a bit after, but all of the new walls that he built are slanted one way or other. We had planned to put glass door for shower closure, but now that's not possible without a repair as the wall/floor is not at 90 degree angle. Other walls have issues as well, but are not as problematic. His carpenter had no idea on how to water-proof the shower pan, so Peter fired that sub and completed the work himself. Peter attempted the waterproofing himself, inadequately and we, the homeowners, ended up fixing both men's work because the shower curb was crooked and red guard was applied incorrectly.

We had asked for paint-ready walls and ceiling and ended up having to sand and fix drywall seams ourselves before painting as Peter insisted it is paint ready and wouldn't continue the work.

The couple bright-spots in this project were that the electrician and tiling guy he hired were very professional, came and did their thing no problem.

There were many other issues with this projects and after some back and fourth Peter addressed some of them, but overall we are very displeased on how long the project took (more than 3 month) and the quality of finished product we ended up with as space is still not usable and needs fixing.

Response from Maisons Builders September 1, 2021
The delay was primarily due to the local building inspector being extremely unreasonable requesting 5-6 inspections just to pass the rough inspection. The customer also stiffed the contractor for over $1,000 so not sure how much weight can be put on this review.

    Deck at 30'

Maisons completed a technically difficult deck project that involved rebuilding a 2nd floor roof, insulating and waterproofing, and . They found exactly the right design for the deck I was looking for and made good suggestions along the way - including consulting with the inspector that enabled us to get permission for a modification not initially allowed for by code but that improved the overall project safety.
