In my opinion, be sure and get a signed contract from this Speers contractor in Alta, Iowa before the work begins. Specifically, who will be doing the work and what materials will be used.
We had a verbal agreement with Speers that they would be constructing our outside building. Instead, they sub-contracted to another company of Mexican workers. Only one of the workers was able to communicate with us.
Secondly, materials that my husband wanted to be used in the construction of the building were not. Speers said that OSB was too expensive along with the building wrap.
Now we are paying the price for their errors of omission. We have had sub-zero temperatures this winter and the water lines in that building have frozen incurring costs for additional heat sources to thaw out the pipes.
I personally question their work ethics and our repair cost will be $16,000+ to fix their mistakes.
