This review is looooong in coming. Marc Gauvin built my home going on twenty-six years ago. Now I was told, when he was contracted by Richard Lachance, to travel around to other building projects he was doing. The objective being, to see for myself what fine workmanship goes into his projects.
I ventured out and discovered that I would indeed like my home to be built by him. At one location, I even spoke to the owner of the home, and he even assured me that I was In great hands with Marc and his crew.
Well, while the rough construction was going on, I trekked up to the site occasionally. On an early visit, during my walk-trough, I stepped onto one of the plywood panels used for the flooring and thought I was going to end up in the cellar, it sagged that much. I think they changed it, or at least I requested them to. The floors to this day are like spring boards.
Shortly after we move in, I was in the back yard. I looked up and noticed a dip in the roof. Another call to Dick Lachance, they discovered one of the trusses had given way. So over the years, I have had many cracks in the walls, upstairs and down.
What prompted me to sit and compose this review after so many years? I am currently in the middle of a remodel of the kitchen/dinning room. The load bearing wall separating the two was removed. Low and behold, to my not-so-great surprise. The header beam did not span the distance it should have!! Remember the cracks we spoke of?
In closing, BUYER BE WARE!!!
