  Build an addition

  Shawn & Blake Marioth stole our $. Abandoned the work with water leaking into our house and birds entering. We had to throw most of the "custom construction" into a dumpster and start over. They are frauds and should be in jail.

  Hiring Marioth Custom Construction was one of the biggest mistakes I've ever made.

  I hired Marioth Custom Construction for a kitchen and bathroom remodel. I was told that the entire project would take ~6 weeks. 18 weeks into the project and they're still not done and have abandoned the work. Marioth has been paid in full, but my bathroom is still unusable--it's missing shower glass, finished tile, and vanity/custom cabinets. My kitchen is also a hot mess. All of Shawn's "custom" carpentry is shoddy at best. My cabinets have scratches, exposed shelves have nails sticking out of them, and lights are flickering. We’re in the process of trying to recoup the amount we overpaid Marioth Custom Construction, but I doubt we’ll ever see that money. Working with Shawn and team was a complete nightmare and we were ripped off. Buyer beware.

  Remodel bathroom and do a paver patio

  I hired Shawn Marioth and his company, Marioth Custom Construction to do a bathroom remodel and a paver patio. I chose him because he had done work for our neighbors. I signed a contract in May 2022 and put down 30%. Work begins in September. The lead contractor tells me a job like mine should be done in one month. All materials have been picked and ordered. Every two weeks he asks for a check. Right at the start the delays begin. One person or another was sick or what not. There were different excuses daily for delays and then the defects started to appear. Part of the bathroom was completed a month into the project. I had chosen vanity, granite, and shower door at a local retailer. Shawn states all of this was ordered but experiencing delays. Workers quit coming because none of the needed parts were delivered. Everything should have been ordered in late July. I stopped by the retailer to find out Shawn had not ordered anything. I continued to press for updates. A week or so later a vanity arrived in parts. It wasn't the vanity I chose. The finish had defects. The inside of every drawer is unfinished. He used pieces of 2 x 4 to secure drawers. It appeared to have been built by Shawn or purchased from a third party. The same with the shower door. They never installed the correct door with trim. At the end of October I received texts every day to inform me they will not be in for whatever reason. At this point he was completely paid. During November and December, he stopped by occasionally to do minor items. In mid-December I wrote him an email redefining the terms of the contract and gave him until 12/31/2022 to complete my project, reimburse me or I would be involving my lawyer. I made sure he approved the email. At this point he owed me $ 13,086.44. I contacted my lawyer, and they wrote 2 letters. Both letters were ignored. On May 1 my son tried to recover monies with new terms but was able to get him to pay only $3,000.00. He still owes $ 10,086.44.
