Three weeks since my last contact--he was supposed to call me with a date to install the trim strip around July 4th. Nothing. My estimation of his customer service is down to nothing.

I finally reached Mark Hornyak last night--I called him on a different phone line, and he answered. He has not yet made the trim strip he promised (a week or so will be 3 weeks tomorrow), he did not return calls, did not reply to emails, and was blustery and defensive when I finally reached him.
But I was in the right--it IS poor customer servgice to blow off repeated attempts by a customer to reach you, and he had to admit my point. He has promised to call me on his progress, whether he has completed it or not, in a week. I'm waiting.

I'd rate him at 1 for customer service.
Mark Hornyak built custom countertops for my small kitchen. He continually re-scheduled appointments, and appears to have poor skills for estimating how long tasks will take. He rescheduled countertop installation, as I recall, three times, and arrived for the 6 PM appointment to install after 7:30 PM--which put his completing the install at 10:30 PM.
The big issue, however, is a construction / installation problem that has yet to be resolved. Of the four countertop sections he created, three are fine. The fourth, an L that fits against two walls, and the most complex of the pieces, is fine along one wall. However, on the other wall, his countertop has gaps wide enough to fit the eraser end of a pencil between the counter and the wall. One of the gaps seems to be a scribing error, the other, he mis-notched too deeply to fit around door trim while he was installing.
He was/is supposed to solve this problem (by a week or so after the install). It's now been 3.5 weeks, 2 phone calls, 3 emails and no response from him. He says he "stands behind his work." If so, I see no evidence of it, since he's not picking up his phone, returning my calls, or answering my emails. All I want is for him to correct these problems, and to provide the solution he promised at the install.

SILL NOTHING from this contractor. HE DOES NOT FULFILL HIS OBLIGATIONS, and BE CAREFUL when you sign any contract with him.
He notched the countertop he built for us too deeply around doorway trim. There's a hole I can put the tip of my little finger in -- about 1/2 an inch square. He promised a trim strip to cover HIS error, and dispite multiple contacts, can't be bothered to schedule a time to fix his error, or even to return calls or emails.
