Beware this contractor. He charges top dollar and does terrible work. In 45 years of managing home and large projects, he is the worst I've ever worked with. He put no water barrier under our porch slab and many places never dried even through North Fork's many 100 degree summer days. Now many places are permanently stained dark. It is UGLY. He blamed water pipes, but the water stains are all over, not just where there were pipes. He blamed a small leak in a small kiddie pool, but there were ugly spots far away from it, and after 4 months of the pool being drained and put away, it is still dark and ugly. He poured it so rain runs into the outdoor dining area, rather than away. He refuses to make good on any of this disaster! Do not under any circumstances hire this man!
Response from Marty the Concrete Guy April 30, 2021You hired us to pour an outdoor patio and sidewalk, which we did following all typical concrete outdoor patio protocols. A moisture barrier is never required in an outdoor patio, sidewalks, driveways, any flatwork. The concrete all slopes away from your tiny house as it should. If you were going to make an enclosed room out of it which you obviously did without telling me about it, we would put moisture barrier because at this point it would be consider a room addition and different procedures would be followed. At this point, concrete should be flat inside and sloping away from all walls. If you would have told me that you were going to enclose the patio, I would have done it differently. Last summer, after the job was completed, you were very happy. All but one spot had thoroughly dried/cured. It was at this time that I suggested to you that you might have a bad connection in your plumbing under the concrete slab or leak of some sort. A few weeks later by your own confession, you told me that you discovered your swimming pool had a leak. It was a full size swimming pool, not a kitty pool as you claim. And just as I suspected the moisture was traveling under the slab creating the wet spot. You later told me that you had fixed the problem and the spot was drying. As I told you then, the leaking swimming pool has created a void underneath the concrete. Thus creating an easy path for all future water migrating down the hill. It is an unfortunate situation, but it is not my fault. I understand that you are upset, but I did everything correct on my end. I gave you refund for not sealing the concrete due persisting moister but seems like you want more. Y You even tried to blackmail me telling that if I wont give you refund you will post negative reviews everywhere. Once more, the bad planning on your side and unfortunate leak from your swim pool does not justify your negative review. I have been in business for over 35 years and I am a stand-up guy. I would correct the problem if it would me my fault, which obviously not. -

Marty and his crew pored sidewalk around my house. The price was great and sidewalk looked beautiful.
I hired him two times more to do stamped colored driveways. The design and final results are great.
I highly recommend this contractor to anyone.
