    truss and build new roof, construct new room

    I called approx. 10 companies to quote my project. Full replacement of a leaking flat roof with a trussed, pitched roof along with demo of a poorly-built Florida room that had no insulation, A/C or electricity. Pretty big project beyond a simple renovation, but definitely smaller than building a new house.

    Only got 5 return phone calls. 2 rejected job upon description (too small? too big?), one came to look and turned me down. Another showed up and proceeded to focus on everything "wrong" in my house besides the project. Then there was David Matson.

    Nothing but professional from start to finish. Answered the phone 95% of the time and returned calls within 10 minutes on the others. Constant communication throughout the 7-week process. This job involved architects/engineers, a truss company, roofers, cement-slab pouring, cinder block construction, stucco, electrical, A/C, doors/windows, drywall, gutters and various other tasks I'm probably forgetting. I expressed to David that the primary objective was to eliminate the flat roof and its associated leaking along with building a livable, comfortable room.

    David and his team nailed it. Every detail. Every request or asking for their input, they made recommendations that resulted in a perfect solution. Because all of the components of the job were dependent upon a previous task completion, each stage had to be timed and coordinated. That means every contractor has to show up on the day & time scheduled. THEY ALL DID. I can't stress this enough. Any breakdown in this process would have prolonged the job and thrown everything into a hold pattern. The fact that all these contractors performed this way is a testament to their respect for David and his relationship and communication with them.

    There are 2 projects in my neighborhood that started 5 to 7 months before mine. They are still in process. There are several days where there is no activity at all. (SIDE NOTE: One of these projects is being done by one of the companies I called. I saw their name on their sign, called, spoke to the owner and told him I was one block over, could he come and take a look at the job?....Never called me back.) I had teams at my house every day at 7:15 like clockwork, ready to go.

    Do yourself a favor if you have a project that requires craftsmanship, punctuality, RESPONSIVENESS and professionalism. Call Matson Construction and speak to David - he will definitely return your call and treat you like a longtime client right out of the gate.
