I contacted Matt to make 3 window well covers. I told him exactly what I wanted, and even gave him our existing cover to use as a model. He quoted me a price of $600.00. While he completed the covers in a timely manner, they were built using reclaimed plywood, not suitable to being left in the elements, and not modeled after the sample I gave him (which he never returned). He put them in place, when I was not home, and should certainly have seen that they were not the right size. He left a torn piece of paper in my mailbox saying I owed him $920.00. When I called him he said that the $600.00 price had to be raised because he didn’t have the amount of plexiglass he thought he had so he needed to buy more. As far as I’m concerned, he should have either eaten the difference or notified me with the new price prior to delivery. Because I knew Matt as a former student at the high school where I worked, I figured he was trying to build his business, so did end up giving him $850.00 to help out. He was to come back to modify the covers so they fit properly, but never did. Numerous calls were made to him, with him saying each time he’d be out to make them right. I saw Matt today and asked him if he was ever going to make good on the covers. He was very arrogant and dismissive telling me he doesn’t work for free and there would be a charge to remake them. When I reminded him that I had already paid him $850.00 and that they were literally falling apart, he told me to have a nice day. Not only is Matt a lousy contractor, but a lousy business man. I would not recommend him to anyone for anything!

Matt has done several jobs for me, including a new roof, building a wall where there had been a large opening, creating a door frame and hanging a door, hanging drywall, painting, and building a beautiful copper chimney cap. He is friendly, and is extremely trustworthy, which is very important to me. He wants the customer to be satisfied. I had a job that turned into something outside of his level of expertise due to some unforeseen issues, and he recommended a contractor who specialized in the area. He is helpful and has done good work for me.

Matt has done many jobs at my house and the work has been excellent. He’s done my bathroom, basement, rebuilt my fireplace, removed wallpaper and painted, in addition to changing my back door and installing covers over my basement windows. His work is meticulous and he is clean when he works. Always pleasant to work with, reliable and reasonably priced. I’d submit pictures if I could.

Agree with the above — unprofessional plus extremely sloppy, sloppy work. Have to call someone in to fix all the sloppy work. Will probably be going to small claims court.

Extremely unprofessional. I'm still waiting for this guy to start work and I have not been able to get a hold of him. He initially came out and gave an estimate and I gave him a deposit. I'm about to take him to district court.

Connected with Matt, agreed with him to do a job on my house. The day he and the team were supposed to arrive he let me know they were running behind, after confirming they were on the way, no one showed up. Matt has then since not returned my phone calls. Seemed like a nice dude, but ended up being very unprofessional.

Matt has done numerous jobs for me over the past few years and I know him on a personal level. I know for a fact that the reviews from Barbara and Cheryl have false claims in them. They both fail to tell the whole story. It’s a shame contractors can be bashed online with no proof of anything just because someone is angry or didn’t like a price, even though that price was agreed upon from the start. You shouldn’t sign an estimate if you’re not going to hold up to your end of the bargain. As for her wanting “to help him build his business”, he’s been in business for 20 years and wouldn’t still be working if the things people said on here are true. Matthew definitely does still have a valid license and insurance, he’d gladly show anyone who asks, this site questions the fact that he has a current license.
