As a contractor was looking at sinking issues for my back porch, he noticed that a patio that Maxalea installed in May 2011 was sloped toward the house. I set up a meeting on Thursday May 1st, but was pulled aside by the owner of my company, so I could not make the meeting. I did not have Dave's (one of the owners) phone # on me so I called a contractor that at my house to give me a bid on something else and asked him to tell Dave what was going on with the patio. I was not available the rest of the night and out of town Friday May 2nd and Monday May 5th. When I called him on May 6th he literally starting yelling at me about a nasty conversation him and the other contractor had to the point where I let him just vent. When it was my turn to speak, I started to, and he cut me off and began to tell me how ignorant I am. I was insulted at that point. He can have any opinion he wants about other contractors, but when a customer gives him over $10K and just wants his professional opinion on his Maxalea's work we should not put up with his insults. I told him that I was offended and he just brought on more insults. By the end of the conversation, we were cursing at each other from the top of our lungs. I should not have to go through this as a customer even if he had an argument with a contractor (who does not represent me, the customer) onsite.
I am not the type of person to get into yelling matches, and I work with contractors for a living. The fact that I just wanted his opinion, and he was completely unprofessional was appalling. I only expected to hear either "It is out of warrenty and I can give you a quote", or "we stand by our work and will address it" but to hear him insult me because I asked him to come out and look at his work was well beyond me.
I let the person that recommended them to me know, and his response was "I know, my wife hates Maxalea too." What a recommendation!
