My wife and I purchased a home from S&S Builders a few months back and we have nothing but positive things to say! We had a very small punch list and everything on the list was completed with no questions asked. One of the best teams I have ever worked with! Highly recommend

Great Contractor We bought our home in June 2017 we absolutely love our home. The special touches and beautiful wood work is my favorite. The thought that went into making our house ours by S & S Builders was so appreciated. Scott and his crew have been amazing. They have done everything possible to make this an enjoyable experience, we watched them build the house every phase and the workmanship was great. They continue to follow up with any issues we might have, the have helped with even the smallest issues. When we text them they come right over. This is my second custom home and S & S Builders made this experience great and I LOVE MY home.

Great experience! We purchased in April 2017 in Belle Oak of Brandon. We love this neighborhood and were so excited about purchasing a Scott May house! We completed a home inspection prior to closing then did our own paint touch up list prior to closing the builder and his contractors corrected each item prior to closing with the exception of a small bit of grout that needed to be filled around the tub and he sent his folks out the day after closing and took care of it. We also submitted a list of items about a month after closing which were taken care of within a week and a half (one item had to be special ordered) so far so good! We would definitely recommend Scott and his contractors.

Warning: Beware of S&S Builders of MS, Inc, and Christopher Scott May
Christopher Scott May (S & S Builders of MS, Inc. of Florence, MS) built, and sold, a new house to my son in January of 2017. The lies and deception Scott May perpetrated in order to sell this house to my son is shameful.
My son, an Eagle Scout, joined the United States Air Force 15 years ago. While working fulltime to support his family, he studied through endless nights to earn both his bachelors and master’s degrees, and my amazing son continues to serve his country.
When I visited him, in July of this year (2017), I planned to complete a few projects around his house. We decided to start with a border around the flowerbeds.
In order to see what we were dealing with, I first thing had to remove about a foot deep of pine needles that Scott May had placed abnormally high on top of an already exceedingly high pile of dirt, which was all pushed too high against the exterior brick wall.
In the flowerbed, next to the front door, we discovered that Scott May had buried a debris pile under mortar and broken bricks. Along with the broken bricks, and mortar, we dug out nails, cans, bottles, roofing shingles, and other assorted buried trash.
During this all day project, to remove the hidden debris pile, we discovered the weep holes (openings at the base of the bricks to allow the walls to breath, and moisture to escape the walls) were suspiciously sealed / caulked with what appeared to be silicone.
Also buried beneath pine needles and dirt, we discovered an obscure shoddily fashioned seventeen-foot long, one foot wide, lump of concrete, positioned against the exterior brick wall, which was several bricks above the foundation’s brick ledge. This hideous looking concrete thingamajig had some sort of ugly tar and tarpaper sloshed between it and the bricks.
My suspicions were confirmed when Scott May admitted there had been “water damage” to the house prior to my son purchasing it, and the “thingamajig” was his absurd low-cost attempt to fix a problem. Per the regulatory inspector, that sort of patchwork would not pass local building code.
On the Property Condition Disclosure Statement, which was an official form that Scott May was required to provide to my son prior to a purchase offer being made, in response to the question, “FOR ANY REASON, has any portion of the residence ever suffered water damage?”, Scott May checked the “No” box, which he know was a lie.
Learning of the prior, and concealed, water damage, that Scott said required replacing the carpet, led to our most serious concern, that there might have been mold present in the walls, since Scott May had sealed up the weep holes after the water damage.
Lacking integrity, and being the proven liar that he is, initially Scott promised to have the house inspected for the presence of mold. However, after unreasonable delays, and us having to press him to perform, he made up one absurd excuse after another, until he eventually refused to do anything.
We further discovered the main water line into the house ran through the flowerbed, buried only three and a half inches underground. With the freeze line for this area being an average of eight inches, this wasn’t adequately buried to the officially recommended depth of sixteen inches.
Upon walking the perimeter of the house, we found many of the weep holes were partly covered with the dirt that Scott had pushed up against the house during construction. With the weep holes at so many different levels around the house, it wasn’t apparent that Scott May understood their purpose.
When we told Scot about cracks found in the foundation, he replied with a perceptibly “canned” speech. Telling us if we believe there are foundational cracks we would have to hire an engineer, at our expense, to evaluate the cracks, and then have the engineer measure again after a year. Then if we could prove a problem we would have to sue his insurance company, whose lawyers he said would drag out litigation for years. In other words, tough luck, you are stuck with it.
We wrote numerous emails to Scott May, trying to resolve so many issues, all of which he said he was afraid to respond to because he might write something that would get him in trouble. Scott May apparently has done so many awful things, and has so much to hide, that he’s afraid to honestly answer even the most simple and direct questions.
We have photos, voice recordings, emails, and witness statements to verify these claims. After seeing the poor quality of what Scott May builds, his lack of response to issues he caused, and his lack of integrity, I wouldn’t let him build a dog house for me.
Scott May masquerades as a former “youth pastor, something he’s quick to tell everyone about, which is an obvious attempt to mask his demonic lack of honesty and integrity. The crooked needle of this man’s moral compass seems to be steadily pointing in a “southerly” direction. -

Scott built our daughter's house a few years ago and she was very happy with it. When she sold it recently, it sold in 5 days! So when we moved to Brandon we decided to build a house and we went with Scott.
During the building process, he was very helpful with suggestions and very patient with me - I am very picky about things and called him a lot during the building process. If I didn't get him on the phone when I called, he always returned by call very quickly.
This is our 4th house to build and I will say this has been the best building experience out of all of them. Now that we are in our house, we absolutely love it and everyone who sees it is blown away by the workmanship and attention to detail. -

I do not personally know Scott May. I've met him one time and that was closing on our house. After reading these reviews I think it's only fair that I back him up with my experience. We have been in our home for ten months. The first week, we had two small problems in the house and Scott had them both fixed within 24 hours. Just yesterday, I called Scott because our garage door was off track. It's 6am and someone is outside fixing the door. My house is one of the most beautiful houses I've ever seen. Maybe Scott has changed his ways or maybe it's only the negative reviews that are posted but I've had a wonderful experience and will not hesitate to buy my next home from Scott.

Purchased Home in July 2015. Every time I've contacted Scott by cell phone he's been very responsive. He took care of all of our issues in an efficient way. We did have a water leak an a gas leak, and he had a crew on location within minutes both times. Other smaller issues took scheduling time, as subcontractors stay busy. We are very happy with our quality built beautiful home.

We bought a house from Scott May in Oct.2015 and as everyone above stated he was a lots of talk and takes for every to answer your complaints. One side of my yard was holding water and he said it was normal. After us calling the sub contractor for the year work we got it repaired. He did have the plumber call to ask about a repair we had on the tub and the plumber told me what to look for so I was able to take care of it over the phone. I sent him a message that night also about the grout around the tub having a gap that was 2 weeks ago and we have not heard back from him. Make sure you have everything up front if you do use him . My recommendation would be to use one of the many 10 times better contractors out there

Scott May and S&S Builders are the best! This is third house my wife and I have built and it has been a wonderful experience. Scott has been easy to work with and because of his experience has made some really good suggestions regarding our home. I have no idea what these other folks are talking about. Before we contracted with Scott, we looked at at least 25 homes he built (both custom and "spec") and the quality, and design were obvious!! Also, we have talked to several people who bought houses Scott built and they were extremely pleased! Oh, and Scott is VERY accessible! He calls us back or text/e-mails us, on a timely basis!

Worst guy ever. He bullies people, or tries to. He bowed up in my face after I walked away from one of his homes. Don't trust a single word that comes out of his mouth. Nightmare experience.

Scott May Is the worst home builder DO NOT BUY A SCOTT MAY HOME me and my wife heard of how great his houses are well as long as you get everything up front because he will give agree to a list of stuff to fix and then he will never follow threw or answer your calls. We have been waiting over six months to have a gap in our brick fixed and he will not fix nor will he even answer my calls anymore after telling me time and time someone will be over to fix it then no one ever shows up. He is a total prick he thinks he's better than everyone you could not give me another one of his houses.

Do not buy a house from scott may, s&s builders. The bottom three reviews are dead on. Sounds like scott may wrote the last review about himself. We experienced the exact same problems with this builder. He has deceived multiple families including several in our neighborhood with his "youth minister" act. He is a fraud, a hypocrite, a liar, and somehow still manages to screw over hardworking, honest, christians with his deceitful, XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXy, bully, "im a god fearing man" act. If you agree and would like to pursue actions with us as a joint claim, let us know and we will respond with contact info.

We had a great experience with this builder...he builds a great house. Scott guarantees his work and backs it up. Don't know what other three reviews are talking about. complaints have similar wording, sounds like someone is trying to ruin Scott's reputation. Scott has built a large number of homes in Brandon and only 3 complaints, hmmm!

By AnonymousJuly 8, 2015Build a house$230,000HYPOCRITE BUILDER!
Awful! HYPOCRITE devil in disguise is what comes to my mind as I read the review ahead of mine! He gave us that same story "I'm the youth minister at my church in Florence". So we trusted that he would treat us as he would want to be treated! I filed a complaint with the board of contractors, they sent out an inspector he said oh yes your having issues I'm going to write this up for trial? Well somewhere between the time the inspector came out and before we got notification about trial it was DENIED? So I followed all the rules of the NEW HOMEBUYERS ACT he kept throwing in my face saying it was there to protect him?!? Wrong it's there for the buyer, per The MS Home builder office. After no response I started getting estimates on what it was going to cost to fix my house, then went and filed a civil claim. We then went to court felt like I was battling more than one. The judge took 8 weeks to make a decision on the case after I called three times and then showed up in court for him to make that decision. He didn't even give me half of what we asked for nor an explanation as to why? The judgement was filed and Scott May of S&S Builders was suppose to pay me within ten (10) days it's been 28 days and still no payment from him.

By AnonymousMarch 27, 2015home building$245,000365 daysBad builder/contractor
WARNING!!! BRANDON, FLORENCE, JACKSON, and surrounding area. Scott May of S&S Builders built our first home. We have had several "big issues" with our house that are covered under our one year warranty, and he refuses to fix them. We have consistently met resistance with him. He will not return phone calls, emails, or text messages. These issues are his responsibility to fix. After talking to different people, we have learned he has done this to multiple families. Bo and I have worked so hard to buy our first home and we
trusted him to do what he promised and stand behind his work. We trusted him, at least partly, because he told us in our first meeting that he was a youth pastor at a local church. We wanted to share this in hopes of preventing others from being taken advantage of. Research, look at reviews, talk to people because you can't take for granted
someone will be honest and trustworthy. WORD OF MOUTH IS EVERYTHING.

Very satisfied with S&S builder. I purchased a home from Scott in February and I have not had any major issues. I called him about something small (adjusting a cabinet door) recently and he answered my question and even offered to come by and do it for me if I could not get it adjusted correctly! It was a simple fix. If you are looking for a builder, I recommend Scott!
