build zoom hugh mccloskey review
Hired Hugh McCloskey in 2014/2015 for external remodeling.
Summary: Project came with an amazing amount of drama and the 3-4 week project lasted months and months. Quoted materials were not furnished. Knew nothing about garage door installation but would never say so - walked out on the job coldest day in February leaving us stranded - told us to "call him back when we had it sorted." Job never inspected. Lot more to write here but lets say there is an outstanding official court judgement on Hugh McCloskey.
Pros:
• Hugh has good ideas and creative solutions.
• Can of red bull and he can accomplish a lot in a short period of time.
Cons:
• Pros do not outweigh the cons.
• Lot of large stories to explain continual lateness, absences, delays.
• Held opportunity with verbal competitive price; delays contract until 12th hour when price was suddenly inflated 300% beyond verbal estimate.
• While skill sets are there for carpentry, associated drama not worth the trade.
Tips to have a more successful engagement with Hugh McCloskey.
• Get EVERYTHING (every little detail) down in writing to prevent miscommunications.
• Get EVERYTHING in writing EARLY.
• Double and triple check that the quoted materials are not substituted on the job for lesser quality materials.
• Get a specific timeline in place, with incentives and decentives for changes.
