By RandyOctober 16, 2024Take down a wall we thought was load bearing and install a beam$6,000Read more
The first and only project I had this company handle was to take a wall down and install a beam as we thought it was a load-bearing wall. During this time the contractor I was assigned to was Joseph. The contract was for a load bearing beam to be installed for 7,500 dollars, which included demo and haul-away, drywalling, and moving/removal of electrical switches and outlets and painting (they didn't paint at all). What didn't happen with this project was the installation of a load-bearing beam because the wall turned out to be non load-bearing. With this in mind I thought since no beam is needed the price of the project would go down as there is no need for the cutting of the trusses or beam to install. Instead I was met with a no it is the same price 7,500 dollars. After a bit of arguing with Joseph of what the original contract was for, he took 1,500 dollars off the original price. Changing it to 6,000 dollars which is still way to much for this type of project. A quick google search brought up the average price for the year 2024 for removal of a non load-bearing wall at its highest is 3,500 dollars which included demo, haul-away, hanging drywall, painting, and moving utilities. So pretty sure I got ripped off with my project with McCormick Home Builders. During the time of the them taking the wall down I talked to Joseph about what to do with my backyard, big mistake by me as at this point Joseph was extremely pressuring me into making another deal for him to do the work and wouldn't stop hounding me that it would be a mistake if I don't go with someone else for the job. And every time I said I needed time to think about it and talk it over with my wife, he responded with the price would go up if I I didn't make a deal now. He also said I shouldn't talk to my wife and to surprise her with a 27,000 dollar backyard project that would only cover a 1/4 of the backyard, I don't have a huge backyard mind you. Do not go with this company, they will rip you off and if you do be careful of the terminology they use as Joseph claims it was 7500 dollars regardless of if a beam needed to be installed or not, though my contract says otherwise.

By Russell B.May 21, 2024replace counter tops$19,000
Worst experience ever. Never showed up on time. Week job took over a month. Scheduled to show up at 9 am showed up at 4:30 pm if at all. Majority of workers don't speak English. Had to come back multiple times to correct mistakes. Problems seem to be with Salesperson Jacob Revach and Project Manager Leoni Solemany. Work crews continuously routed to other jobs

By Jill R.September 20, 2021Exterior Paint$39,500
This company provided me a service for exterior paint. I am very satisfied and happy from the service they provided me I will definitely recommend them to friends and family. Their prices were very fair and I think they were honest with me during all the way. The project manager was very detailed and he informed me every day about the schedule. At the end of the job they provided me a certificate for my warranty

Last complaint:
Wanted information about front bathroom shower install. The shower install has no shelving but indentations and grooves for so called shelving. Phone calls to McCormick started over two weeks ago (1-888-606-1315). There was always forwarding to Ms. Garcia's message service. After days of leaving messages, finally a young lady answered, was told the problem and guaranteed that someone would be returning the call. This never happened. I finally, text Ben and left him a message on the 19th of July 2025 (No response). Pictures were sent; I also posted on Yelp about this company which has disappeared, but someone called from McCormick on 7/24/2025 at 11:22AM. The young lady stated that she had not known of my previous attempts and the employee named Garcia. I informed her, I had spoken with their after-hour service (1-888-606-1315) and they knew exactly who Ms. Garcia was and once again, promised to put the note on her desk.
Ironically, on the 24 of July at approximately, the exact same time (11:22AM) the phone call from McCormick(1-818-451-3948) and from Ben(310-926-6513). The problem was reiterated again to this lady from McCormick (God knows)"Where are the shelves for the shower kit and if not, where do I need to buy them (just like I bought the $600 bathroom vanity for a $17,000 job). ben left a message which states he has been sick (I have many of those voicemails from the beginning to ending of job). All texts and voicemails have been archived. This is hopefully the last issue. There have been many with this company:
1. showing up when they want too
2. not showing up when scheduled
3. ordering wrong supplies
4. gas leakage from new stove
5. paint not properly finished
6. no hot water in front bathroom after remodel
7. light fixture in front bathroom not connected properly
8. front bathroom fixture to water supply put in incorrectly.
9. supplies dumped on front porch
10. debris partially taken away
11. most workers didn't speak English
12. excuse after excuse for mess-ups
13. leftover supplies just left in kitchen drawers
14. kitchen counters not aligned correctly
I will be posting another Yelp review and see, if this one disappears. * Once again, pictures were sent by text to 1-818-451-3948 where I was asked to send pictures of the shower. I was told someone would get back to me and that Ben would not be the person taking care of this. This told to me, even though it had been made clear that Ben was calling while on the phone with this individual.
WE WILL SEE...so shelving was put in after Ben tried telling me the shelving was custom. WTF! The shelving was from Sterling , as was the shower kit and come as accessories from Lowes or Home Depot. When the worker came the next day (yes, another one). I had to show him the shelving on the app. He looked like he didn't believe me when I was telling him. These people think your dumber than dumb.
New Complaint
This project manager Ben, says "Let me know when you want to pay/make a payment because it will lower your payments". He keeps saying this intermittently between problems. Well, I call in the week of 9/17/2025 and speak to a women who sounds like she's still in bed (answers the phone without any salutation of the company). I have to ask if this is McCormick which she says "yes". I ask for the information needed to make a $20,000 payment(this is due because Ben states, payment made before Oct. 1st will lower payment to around $600, if I remember right). I tell her, I need this because the payment will be made from a credit union and information must be in the system. She gives me McCormick's information. Later my mother puts the information into the credit unions system and then calls the financing company. LOW N BEHOLD.......The finance company states that the loan is not due until 12/07/2025 and that the $20,000 being paid will not reduce our payment. The payment will still be over $945.00 a month. So, it didn't take a genius to figure out what McCormick was doing: $20,000 paid to them, they turn around and contact the finance company and lower the amount owed to $51,000. Why couldn't or wouldn't McCormick be transparent about this. Why be or try to be slick? Ben had all the time in the world to put this information on the table and didn't. Even up to the day, I ask for the information to make the $20,000 payment. Plus there was still a problem with the water in the tub (front bathroom not staying in) but we were tired of having them continuing to have to come back to fix or complete work almost a year later. NOW WE KNOW WHY BEN KEPT SAYING "JUST LET ME KNOW WHEN YOU WANT TO MAKE THE PAYMENT AND I'LL HELP YOU" THE $20,000 WAS GOING TO MCCORMICK NOT THE FINANCE COMPANY.HE EVEN SENT ME A RECENT TEXT WITH THE SAME ABOVE MESSAGE. GO FIGURE!!!!
I haven't even made my true review about this company. I have texts, pictures and videos. This encounter was a circus and I won't and don't wish this on anyone, especially a senior. DON'T BE FOOLED!!
