Once McKelvey homes has your money, forget about getting anything fixed. They have only one customer service person (Debbie) for all of their neighborhoods. She is slow to return calls or doesn't return at all.
They build a nice house but dealing with customer service isn't worth it.
The company owner came to my closing, but he seemed focused on making money. I told him, in detail, all the issues I encountered during the building process. He didn't care. He had my money. He keeps a small staff in order to increase his profit margins.
Do NOT buy a McKelvey home. If you do, you'd better be aggressive or you'll never get anything fixed.
Be advised that their builder markup on upgrades or changes is about 400%.

I had a home built in 2008, paid $670,000. We requested a radon mitigation system be installed at the time of construction. We lived in our home for 5 years. When we were ready to sell, a radon test was performed. Indicated levels were high! Impossible of course. After investigating we found a system that was never connected or functioning. There was no fan, electrical wires were never attached & hanging in the electrical box. First question, how did this pass code? A PVC pipe stuck out of the cement floor in the storage area and was connected to nothing. The company who supposedly installed the system was rated "F" by the BBB of St. Louis. As a matter of fact, that "F" rating existed when the company was hired by McKelvey. I demanded that McKelvey pay for a legitimate system to be installed for my new buyer and he did after being shown multiple photos. Bottom line, my family's health was jeopardized for 5 years in order to cut his building costs!
