Mark Mc Lafferty
Worst HVAC company in the area. Dishonest and will end up making issues much worse instead of better. Luckily, HSA warranty company is paying for their service, so I only had to pay the 75 dollar service fee.
I called to have my top floor issue resolved. The air conditioner was not cooling the top floor of my house, so Mclafferty's came out. When I came home and saw my basement, I was appalled. The doors were thrown off the hinges, the filter was smashed in, and I even had a pipe draining water in the hallway. Plus, the top floor still was not blowing cold air. I called and I scheduled them to come out again.
The second time, I came home to a warm house the day after Mclaffertys had come out. The thermostat read 78 degrees. I checked the air panels, and now, no cold air was flowing to my second floor. My entire house is now not cooling. Before I went to bed on Monday, the day the technician came out, the thermostat read 73 degrees. That did not throw up a red flag at the point, and I went to sleep. The next morning, the thermostat read 74. My house is set at 70 degrees, and it never goes above that temperature on that floor. I decided to see what the temperature was when I got home. It was then I noticed it was 78 degrees, and no cold air was blowing.
I called, and the first thing I was told was they did not do it. They also had the audacity to tell me that lightning may have hit something to make it not work correctly. They stated it was an intermittent problem, and it must have happened after they left. I explained that this was not working when the guy had left our house and that I just noticed the issue. Then, I was accused of lying. The person on the phone, I think it was Mark, told me that he could not come out that night. If they had to make an emergency service call, I would have to pay the emergency service fee. When I have service done, If something is messed up by the company performing the service, I expect it to be fixed correctly. Not only could Mclaffertys not do this, they are quick to place the blame on the customer.
Ever have a company mess more stuff up then fix it? Well, if you want to use a company like that, call Mclaffertys heating and cooling.
Update : I received a second opinion on 08/17/2016. After the no air issue, I wanted someone to come out who had really good reviews. North Pittsburgh Heating and Cooling came out. He noticed right away that ice had built up on my system. (This was caused the day after McClarfferty's left). Tim showed this to me as soon as he noticed it.. also, someone had rigged up one of the airflow handles . I then had to wait an entire day to fix this issue due to the ice buildup, and I was told the issue was a lack of coolant in the system. The coolant was put in on Thursday, and now my system works fantastically. It took an hour for them to fix the issue. I am not sure why Mclafferty's could not manage to notice this the two times they were out. Also, the fact that they could not fix their mess up as soon as I called to address it lets a customer know what kind of company they are.
