  Word of Warning

  We first met MCT construction as they were doing a job around the corner from us. The work looked great at the time. It took us several years to get the money together to do our 2nd story addition. The owner, Mr. Terry was very helpful during this process. To be honest, Mr. Terry was very helpful throughout the beginning of the project. He was more than flexible when it came to us doing some of the work ourselves and truly seemed to have our best interest at heart. Was I wrong. It began after they removed the roof in December and sealed it up prior to starting work. Unfortunately, there was a storm and we received several inches of snow and rain, well, to the say the least, I woke up at 3am to the sounds of water running throughout my house. At this time, we also had a 4-week old baby in the house, along with my other 3 children. I attempted to contact Mr. Terry on his cell phone, but he was out of town at the time. I tried many times to no avail. I climbed on the roof and shoveled and swept off all of the ice and water for 2 hours. I finally reach Mr. Terry and he came to the house along with one of his workers. When he walked in the door, we had a baby pool full of water sitting on our dining room table and various other buckets laying about due to water still dripping in. His words were, this is the worst leak we've ever had, and we will take care of everything. When he said he would take care of everything, I believed him, I did not cal my homeowners at the time.
  I am stupid.
  Needless to say, when I brought up certain items that needed to be replaced, like ceiling fans, the hardwood floor that was now buckling and swelling in places, he never gave me full answers. Surprised? I was. I was a fool for having faith in this hack. I eventually called my homeowners about 3 months later and they ended up actually paying us for the damages. I did not pass this work along to Mr. Terry. He took my calling my homeowners as an insult, left me a very nasty message. His crew came back for several more weeks, finished the absolute minimum amount of work required to fulfill the contract and they left. Mr. Terry sent me a final bill with deductions all over the place for work he didn't feel necessary to complete.
  Now, I know this seems like I am griping about one thing in general, but there were other issues over the course of the job that I have not had to go in and fix myself.
  I just want to give a word of warning to other homeowners out there. If you decide to utilize the services of MCT Construction, remember, he is not your friend. You hired him to do a job. Make sure you get it all in writing and get what you actually asked for. I was naive and foolish. Shame on me. Don't let it happen to you.
