Anyone looking for roofers, by all means avoid Merin Construction. This is what they left me with. This is a $7500 roof job. Henry Jr has promised me many times he was coming back to make things right but then all I get is excuses.

By Joanne S.July 20, 2022Inspect a roof$0
I needed a roofer to inspect a roof being added to my home, after a general inspection had been done with problems. I put into the computer and a site came up with Merin. Dave called me, a time and date were set up and Gabriel came. He confirmed the findings, took pictures and was going to write something up for me to give to the company. After many calls, texts, and emails to Merin, I have not received anything. I even said I would report them to the BBB and that didn't seem to faze Dave. I would have given them a zero if I could. STAY CLEAR OF THIS COMPANY!!!!!

We hired this contractor to remodel our living room and porch. We bid 3 contractors and they were the lowest price. Our first mistake was to choose Merin and Ader Vindal. Ader made every promise to us that the job would be done perfectly and that he hired and used all of the top professionals in their fields to do concrete, roofing, carpentry/framing, painting and electrical work. Ader did not properly supervise the job. We had a rear wall removed, a porch added, the roof extended and a concrete patio built with an outdoor grill kitchen built and added. The job was supposed to take a total of 8-10 weeks. The job went on for nearly 3 months and there was NEVER a final walk through and an attempt to finish open items. I withheld a final payment and he only asked once for the money because he probably knew it was not warranted. There were many, many items during the project that were wrong, done with poor workmanship and many of the workers were not equipped for the job. We had young kids showing up to paint and do other jobs, many did not speak English an it was difficult to communicate about the work they were doing. There were at least 4 major failures with their work: (1) They did not rebuild the opening for a window which had a high quality expensive plantation blind. When the wall was completed and painted, the shudder did not fit, nor could we reinstall the window trim and sill. Although Ader purchased a new blind, the finished product was not completed with the final pieces. (2) There were 2 carpenters working on framing the new porch. They took 2 weeks and failed at getting the work done. Ader needed to fire them and bring in another person to repair their mistakes and finish that work. (3) The roof that was added to cover the porch, now leaks profusely into our porch and through the ceiling fan. We are currently getting outside quotes from roofers to have this repaired and have no idea what this will cost or what water damage might be done. (4) We had expensive door and window panels installed on the back wall of the porch. The panels were not installed into the correct measure areas and the workers jammed these in o fit and widows do not open, slide or shut properly. They ruined the door, door jam and latch when they attempted to install it. Ader came back and spent nearly a day to tr to reinstall the door and fix the door jam. Although he got it to close, it had scratches and a month later the door was failing to close properly again and I needed to remove the latches to get it to close. This was a nightmare. I sent Ader 2 letters with listed items that needed to be taken care of. He blamed me for being too picky and said we had unrealistic expectations and was not happy that I complained about the lack of proficient work and skilled workers.
Do not hire these people. I cannot go back after them now because I do not want them in my house.Response from Merin Construction LLC March 28, 2019please if don't pay a last take of the comment please delete.

Merin Construction is incompetent to perform a construction project at any level. Henry Jr aka Gabriel is a liar and a con man. They are licensed only for paint and drywall in spite of promoting themselves as a full service general contractor. Gabriel quoted me $37,000 to replace decking and indicated that it would be a three week project. He required a $17,000 deposit up front. He proposed a system that he later determined would not work. He then proceeded to install a different system without advising me. In addition he repeatedly advised me that he had purchased materials and was warehousing them until needed . He is in breach of the contract and has performed 10-14 days of work in 9 1/2 weeks. Here is where he is so dangerous. He is a smooth talker and seems somewhat knowledgeable. He has stolen this money from me. He has cost me $11,000 in lost rent, he has removed decking that should never have been removed . If Merin Construction comes your way I advise calling the city building and planning wherever you are located. Call local law enforcement and hold on to your wallet. Do not give Henry or Henry Jr (Gabriel) any money. I have documented everything I have said here with texts, emails, the contract and photos.
