We had a small job for Merit Asphalt to do. We got the quote from them, but when the contractor was here my husband told them over and over to be very careful for our new sidewalk that was installed last fall. He even but on the work order to be very careful by the new sidewalk that was installed last fall. And my husband told them to be careful with the sidewalk when the crew arrived of the job. When the crew started the job there was an employee was standing on the new sidewalk while the removal of the old asphalt was removed. During the removal they lifted the new sidewalk while the employee was standing on it and didn't stop the removal at that time until they cracked the new sidewalk. My husband called the office to tell them what had happened, and they sent a contractor to check out the sidewalk. At that time he said there would be an adjustment to the bill for damages and he would see what he could do. When receiving the bill there was no adjustment. And my husband tried to call the contractors cell phone and office about the bill. No call back. So my husband waited a few more days and left messages on his cell phone and office phone. Finally he returned his called. We asked about the adjustment and he finally said that they would adjust only $50.00 of the bill. This crack in the sidewalk will that us a few days to somewhat fix, but can't correct the concrete that was cracked. We are very disappointed with Merit Asphalt for their responsibility of the actions of the crew that cracked of new paver sidewalk that installed last fall. I feel as through our time to try to correct this crack is worth a lot more than $50.00, it should be about $50.00 per hour to try to fix the mistake that the Merit Asphalt crew damaged.
