By David B.July 17, 2023Kitchen extension and remodel$70,000Read more
Brian Lee with Metro Home Improvement is a gifted salesman. We had them extend our kitchen 8' and remodel it. Things started out well. Then he told us that he would get DTE out to move our electrical hook up. It was now inside our kitchen. 9 months later after a number of calls he tells me that DTE has lost his request and that I would need to contact them. I did and a few weeks later they move their connection to the house. Now I had a hole in my floor. He came out and covered it. When I informed his foreman that the floor sank where the hole use to be, he told me that the contractor laying the finish floor would fix that. This never happened. Noe the sinking floor is getting worse. I will have to get someone else to fix it. He then came out and proceeded to finish the kitchen. However, we ordered two styles of cabinets. One of the styles was delivered with the wrong style. By this time we just wanted it completed and accepted them. He painted the kitchen before the cabinets were installed, the backsplash was installed and most anything was done. His contractors damaged the wall and paint. When told that he needed to paint the kitchen, living room and hull due to damage and some repair done by his contractors, I was told that he had already painted. We wanted a wood pantry door that could be varnished. He told us it was on order, but it would take a few weeks a couple of months of later the door came in and was installed. It was a wood with primer on it and needed to be painted. Never completed. Not the right door. His contractors put hole in my privacy fence, and he has not fixed that. Never put up the gutters on the extension. He removed a down spout and never put it back up. Still in my garage. He had to remove the downspout and my furnace pipes to get his equipment in the back to dig the crawlspace for the extension. Never finish caulked around pipes on side of house. Can still see light from the basement. He has left a sink, stove hood at my house and never picked them up. The sink is used and his the stove hood is new. It was the wrong one. I can not get him to pick them up. He now does not return my messages. Seems he not going to finish the job. It has been 3-1/2 years now. Would not recommend him to do work. He does do some very good work, however, dose not finish the job.

By Donna L.June 12, 2020build a new home$350,000
We want to buy a home in the Gentry Preserves in Warren, MI. We met with Brian and his agent. Brian was too busy with other calls to deal with us in person. Did not have HOA information and NO blueprints. Said he knew everyone, but when I asked for his permit records he refused, and said he couldn't work with us because we were asking for to much information and questions. He raised the price several times and then lowered them. We honestly offered to buy out the lot for an add fee, and get a new builder. One who had plans and has done new builds. They refused. Be careful this is was our savings were investing and to be treated like this is unacceptable.

Brian Lee with Metro Home Improvement is a gifted salesman, but an incompetent contractor. Prior to signing the contract, the sky is the limit. He will promise you the highest quality products, installed by the best crew of union contractors in the business, all while dropping names of professional athletes and local media personalities who he has done work for in the past. Unfortunately, he overpromises and under delivers on everything. His crew of union contractors consist of a dysfunctional group of his buddies and a few day laborers sprinkled in. The top of the line products that he sells you at the showroom become lesser quality products that he orders from an online discount warehouse or Home Depot. For weeks I was told that a specific “special order” item was in his warehouse and ready to be installed, only for him to call me from Home Depot asking for measurements so he could buy and install an inferior product that I have since replaced myself. I would like to say that the inferior products are at least installed with the utmost care and professionalism, but nothing could be further from the truth. If Brian tells you “his guys” or “his crew” will be there Thursday, expect them to show up next Tuesday. I reached the point where I just wanted the job done and I didn’t care what was wrong. I have since fixed numerous issues, some myself and some I will have to hire people to fix. Hiring Brian was one of the largest mistakes I have ever made in my life and I hope I can prevent others from making the same mistake I made.

Every time I’ve used this company, their work stands out. They clean the mess the make, the quality is top notch and they get it done in a timely manner. Will never go with any other place.

Absolute joke of an experience with them if not for the thousand plus dollars, months of delays, incomplete unsatisfactory botched and abandoned unfinished project. Owner Brian Lee is a criminal at worst and a lousy handy man at best. From my experience I could not recommend them as they basically botched the work they did attempt and never came back to fix or complete the work. I would steer clear also of Jamie Ransom or Nathan Blackledge who were also complicit.

Brian Lee taught me more about building than I'll ever need to know. He feels it's important for a customer to be educated, that way we could make our best decision. I spoke with several previous customers and as expected all over the moon. I made him give me 3 problem job customers and he did dig up one for me. When I spoke to that person it was clear that the customer was actually in the wrong with what the person told me. You can't really sign a contact for something. Have it special ordered, then get upset when you change your mind after it's installed and demand it redine or a refund. I asked if the work was ok, and the guy Said it was fine! Lol
