After 3 years of looking for a home in LA with our realtor, we finally were able to buy a home in our dream location, Burbank, California. My husband and I, who are high school sweethearts, would romanticize Burbank and were under the impression that, as adults, the prices for homes in Burbank would never be within reach.
It wasn’t until we found a home from the 1940s that was an absolute fixer-upper. Everyone in our lives begged us not to purchase and the house seemed impossible to repair.
We interviewed contractors to see who could help make this impossible project seem approachable. We located Jonathan through reviews on reddit and after meeting with him versus other contractors, we knew right away that Jonathan was our person.
Jonathan had the exact vision for the changes that my husband and I had, mentioning recommendations that my husband and I had discussed together before even sharing with Jonathan. He took charge of scheduling needs and approvals of all the permits for the house, changed the floors, walls, electrical layout, all 15 windows, added recess lightings and added a room and half bath. At the beginning of the project, Jonathan estimated that it would take 6 months to finish and he finished around 5 months.
To see the house the way it is now that it is finished, it is a completely different home. I am elated to call it our first home and had such a positive, seamless experience with Jonathan, we look forward to working with him and referring him to others in the future.

After interviewing four general contractors (GCs) for my interior remodel of a 4-bedroom, 4-bath home, I chose Jonathan due to his architecture/design background, drafting skills, and extensive knowledge. Unlike other GCs who required me to work with separate architects and designers, Jonathan handled the design, drafting, and permits all in-house, which saved me a lot of time and streamlined the process. His estimated timeline for construction was also the shortest, while still offering a competitive price.

Throughout the construction, there were no delays. Jonathan adhered to the timeline and completed the project as promised. I never experienced long periods of inactivity, which is rare based on my past experiences with prior renovations. His communication was outstanding—he was always responsive and available via text and email, which made the process so much smoother.

Jonathan was also great at helping me research options and find solutions when I wanted to make changes during the project. His flexibility and problem-solving skills were invaluable.

Since the interior remodel, Jonathan has also helped us renovate our exterior, and we relied on him to redo the roof on another property. Additionally, we’ve referred him to a family member for their project. His expertise and the trust we have in him mean everything to us.

Renovating a home is a significant undertaking, and I’m grateful to have worked with someone who made the process efficient, stress-free, and enjoyable. Thanks to Jonathan, our family now has a beautifully remodeled home.

We bid our recent project, a remodel of a 2 bedroom 1 bath home in Silverlake, to multiple contractors. Jonathan was the last contractor to see the home. Because we simply didn't need anyone else to see the place after he came in. The second I met him I knew he was the person to take over and manage the project. Before we even stepped into the home, he pointed out a complex and symmetrical and intricate spider web outside on our porch. I just knew he had the kind of attention to detail we needed. He was the only person to reimagine the space in a way we wanted but nobody before could do. His background as both an accomplished and skilled architect and contractor helped tremendously. He had a beautiful and thoughtful idea to transform our 2 bedroom 1 bath home into a 3 bedroom 2.5 bath home without even needing to increase square footage. He kept our cost minimal and he was able to bring immense value to our home. Design, planning, and pulling permits promptly with incredible ease to start the project? Check, check, and check!

Now off to the demo and construction! Impeccable and quality workmanship. We love how the home feels. It's not just an esthetic feeling, but we can feel the solid foundation and flooring when we walk through. We loved all the design recommendations for paint, cabinets, flooring, etc. I think almost everything Jonathan suggested, we were sold. He has a true eye for modern design and esthetics. He stuck to our timeline and truly delivered with stunning results. One thing about Jonathan is he is a great communicator. We have dealt with many setbacks during prior remodeling/construction projects, and it's inevitable. But one thing we truly appreciate about Jonathan is he doesn't just come to you with the problem, but he already has the solution or multiple solutions. This was a very low stress project for us because of Jonathan's calm, meticulous, and detail-oriented approach to reimagining and transforming our space. We couldn't be more happy with the results.

If you are looking for a company to plan and oversee a remodel... there is no better choice than Jonathan Litinsky and Metropolis Drafting and Construction. We have done multiple remodels before and, without question, this was our best experience from beginning to end. I particularly appreciated the following.... Jonathan’s calm demeanor, his design vision (especially given this is not my strength), his responsiveness to calls and messages, his timeliness (he and his employees always arrived on time for work and appointments), his sensitivity to and respect of desired price points, his meticulousness about the work being done, his organization of the job itself and the work spaces, his consistent communication of project updates, and his ability to deal calmly and efficiently with the inevitable glitches that occur in the remodeling process. Jonathan’s employees were ALL kind, respectful, neat and highly skilled. I felt completely trusting of those who were coming into our home and appreciated that they were understanding of our dog’s crazy barking and need to slowly adjust to new visitors. We had two bathrooms remodeled and they are BEAUTIFUL! Just what we envisioned.

It is important to say that while I see Jonathan as an outstanding contractor and would re-hire him in a second.... I am equally appreciative of the fact that he is wonderful human! We had a couple of house problems arise during the remodel (that had nothing to do with the remodels) and he made himself available to help us figure out a solution. One in particular... a plumbing problem where we were given an $8,000 estimate...and on a Saturday evening he talked us through a process, where we ultimately learned that the evaluation by the plumber was wrong and it was an easy fix. Jonathan cares about both the process and the results of his projects and works very hard to make the experience as positive as possible for his clients.

We are so very grateful for having met and worked with Jonathan and Metropolis Drafting and Construction. I highly recommend them for any home project you are considering!

Jonathan and his team are nothing short of amazing. They are an absolute pleasure to work with! From the moment we met him, we knew that our home and finances would be in excellent hands. We liked him so much that we didn't even interview any other contractors/architects (which is pretty risky given that we were doing a pretty major home renovation: we turned our kitchen into a bedroom, knocked down walls and needed 2 21-foot support beams, built an entirely new kitchen and redid the floors in the entire home).

Our gut instincts were spot-on, and thankfully, Jonathan was every bit as wonderful to work with as he seemed that first day. He was very involved in the process and came pretty much daily to check on the quality of the work. He's trustworthy, caring, responsive, thorough, and just a really great guy to have around. My kids LOVED him, and still ask about him at times. Speaking of kids, we have 3 very small children and lived in the house during almost the entire remodel, and Jonathan worked out a plan so that we would have a functional kitchen throughout. Shockingly, everything went as planned... he was ON SCHEDULE or even ahead of schedule, almost the entire time. I think the only time we got pushed back a few days unexpectedly was from rain.

One of the things that I most appreciated about Jonathan is his attention to detail and very high standards. In fact, on several instances Jonathan made his team redo some of the work (i.e. repaint our entire ceiling), because he felt it didn't meet his standards, even though I hadn't noticed any imperfection until he pointed it out. I don't think many contractors operate that way.

At one point we travelled abroad for 2 weeks... My husband was super-nervous about being away while the hardwood floors were being done, and Jonathan seriously went above and beyond to keep us in the loop and involved every day. The best way to describe what a genuinely good man Jonathan is: on the day we came back, he spent over an hour helping my dad re-construct all of our kid's cribs (that's 3 cribs) just so that they'd be ready for naptime when we got back from our trip.

I was dreading the home renovation process, especially since most of my friends have had an incredibly stressful time with their projects. I think my husband and I are rarities because we actually enjoyed the process, and I know that's 90% because of what an amazing contractor Jonathan is, and how smooth he made the process. He and his team are truly exceptional in every way!!

This was our first home renovation so we were nervous about picking a contractor. We met with several contractors before we decided to go with Jonathan, whom we met through a referral. We met him for the consultation and really appreciated how thorough and patient he was in answering all our questions and concerns. 

For our kitchen renovation, we wanted to open up our galley kitchen to become a more functional and modern space. Our house was built in the 1920’s, so we had a wall separating our dining room to our kitchen and pantry room. Our project involved knocking down 3 walls, 1 being a foundation wall, rewiring electrical, gas, plumbing, pretty much a full gut. It required a lot of coordination and scheduling between various workers (ie cabinet installation, countertops, plumbing, electrical, inspector etc) which was all taken care of and supervised by Jonathan personally…. We really appreciate the fact that he only hired people who were proficient in their expertise only (ie the backsplash person was not the one doing your floors also). Every person who was in our house was respectful and made sure to clean up afterward.

Our kitchen renovation project took a total of 8 weeks. Jonathan was good at updating us each time with our progress and always available to answer my calls/text in a timely manner which made this process less stressful. We also had a certain budget in mind, so he made sure to stay within our initial estimate. He is detail oriented, knowledgeable and takes great pride in the quality of his work. The best part was that Jonathan was able to recreate the curve walls which matched our original 1929 Spanish Tudor home. He was able to successfully deliver us a modern kitchen while maintaining the character of the house. Overall, our kitchen turned out amazing and we couldn’t have asked for a better contractor.

We recently completed a major remodeling of our home, involving reconfiguring our kitchen layout, installing all new custom cabinets and appliances, replacing all flooring, opening a wall, upgrading the stair bannisters from wood to wrought iron, installation of french doors, wall paneling and tiling, and painting We selected Jonathan and his company Metropolis Drafting & Construction to be our primary design architect and contractor after interviewing several companies.

We could not be any happier with our choice. Jonathan is a true professional, and a rarity in the world of contracting. He is an architect by training, and has an outstanding design eye. Jonathan made countless recommendations to us on layouts, coloring and choice of materials that really helped us to land on a design and materials that we loved. He gained a quick understanding of our tastes in style and color, and all of his design recommendations were presented in very easy to visualize 3D drawings.

Once we started construction Jonathan was on top of every step and detail in the demolition and construction process. He advised us up front on all of the projected costs, including detailed cost breakouts when requested. Our project was projected to run for 4-5 months, and we finished right on time due to Jonathan's outstanding focus on scheduling his work crews and ensuring materials were available when needed. Jonathan and his crews did all of the work compliant with local county building codes, and Jonathan personally managed the entire building permit and approval process to successful completion.

Jonathan is also outstanding on any follow up items. As with any construction project, there will always be one or two small issues that surface after a job is completed, like a cracked tile or small paint or stain blemishes. All it takes is a single call to Jonathan and he will have one of his crew arrive promptly to correct the defects. Jonathan warrants all of his work, and he absolutely backs his warranty as evidenced by our experiences with him.

We absolutely love the results of our remodeling project. We couldn't be happier with our choice of Jonathan as our designer and contractor, and will not hesitate to use him again in the future for additional projects. We recently remodeled our home however our contractor didn’t work on stair bannisters or know of anyone who did. We had a large, circular wood bannister and wanted to replace it with a more contemporary iron bannister with a wood handrail. We interviewed 4-5 bannister contractors who were referred to us or we found on the internet. None of them could figure out a way to accomplish the look we wanted.

Jonathan entered the picture when we happened to see a stunning remodel he did at a nearby house that coincidently had a stair bannister similar to what we wanted. After getting a feel for what we were envisioning, Jonathan produced a few designs that we loved. The design we selected was not inexpensive but, after observing the amount of work and detailed precision required of the subcontractors, we understood that the cost was completely in line with the work involved. Jonathan supervised the project from start to finish in a very orderly fashion, coordinated with the contractor doing the wood flooring on the steps, and made sure that each stage was flawless before the next stage began.

The final staircase is exactly what we had envisioned and Jonathan completely captured the look we wanted. The result in fact exceeded our expectations due to his suggestions and direction. He was on site to approve each step and met with us several other times to discuss colors and design choices as the project progressed.

His right-hand man, Guy, was here to oversee the work as well and was also a pleasure to deal with. And we must say that Vinny, who painted the wood hand rail was a true artist and perfectionist. Jonathan has great vision, unmatched integrity, and was simply a wonderful person to work with throughout our project. We wouldn’t hesitate to have him back for any other remodeling projects that come up in the future.

We hired Jonathan to oversee a complete rehabilitation of the home we purchased in Oak Park and could not be happier with the results! Jonathan and his crew at Metropolis are extremely well organized and forthcoming, two of the most important qualities you can have in a contractor.

From the very beginning of the project, Jonathan was honest with us about costs, timelines, and materials and never moved forward with any of the work without first giving us all the details of the work and gaining our approval. We knew who would be showing up, what work they would be doing and when they would arrive. If ever anything changed, we were notified by Jonathan immediately.

Building or renovating a home is an extremely stressful endeavor and Jonathan is excellent at managing all the different aspects of this process. He is present on the job site, and always on top of whatever his workers are doing so there is no worry that the job is progressing without proper supervision.

Before we did any work to the kitchen or bathrooms, Jonathan sat with us and showed us 3D architectural renderings of all the designs he created for each room and made any adjustments we wanted right there, in person. He is both a skilled designer and architect.

He made excellent recommendations for materials, vendors, colors, and accessories to help us achieve the look and feel of the home that we had envisioned. Making all those decisions on your own can be extremely difficult and having someone with his level of knowledge and expertise is helpful beyond description!

All of the work that Jonathan and his crew performed was done 100% to code, inspected, and signed off by regulators. There was no cutting of corners, no cheap fixes or sweeping under the rug. As a result, our kitchen is the envy of our neighborhood and our new bathrooms feel like a spa at a 5-star hotel!

We are in love with our new home and we have Jonathan and his amazing crew at Metropolis to thank for it. We are already planning our next renovation to the exterior of the house and will be using them again for sure!
