I’ve used MHC several other times to do work for me and I was happy enough that I hired him to do the flooring after I had a water leakage problem. The first floor he put in the kitchen was lifting up immediately and I let him know about the problem and asked him to come and see it and he did not ...he kept putting me off. I had given him all the money that the insurance company gave me the first day that he came and it seemed like once the money was in his hand he kept stalling me...as he took on other projects. I got fed up waiting for him to bring me new samples to replace the unacceptable floor he put in... that I went to Home Depot and found the perfect flooring ,exactly what I asked for at $.72 a square foot. The insurance company was paying him $1.35 a square foot so it was well in the parameters of his budget. I called him right away and sent pictures of the flooring from Home Depot and told him that this was a discontinued model and he needed to get down right away to get it...he said he would and he would get back to me. About two weeks later he finally showed up with the flooring to just leave it here ...not do the work yet as the laminate needed to settle in. A couple weeks later he finally came and it took him one day to put the flooring in. He was contracted and paid to finish it up, which included all the trimwork replaced and put the dishwasher back in. Almost 2 months later he got somebody to come and just put in the dishwasher back...but he never showed back up to finish the trim work. When called on it he said that he wasn’t going to be coming back until I gave him the last check which the insurance company holds back until the project is finished. I told him when he comes to finish the project I will write him out the check. I had learned my lesson about giving him the money upfront first... Because once you do, you’re no longer a priority on his list as he already has your money... and shouldn’t it be the other way around. He also got paid to replace the subflooring which he never did ...to remove the skirting of the mobile home and replace it which he never did ...to put in insulation which he never did ....and when asked about all this he said well it didn’t need to be done ... which is all fine and dandy except that he pocketed the money that the insurance company paid him to do all those things. Beware...and be forewarned. I had to pay someone else to finish up what he neglected to do.
