In April of 2023 I hired Mike Colligan to remodel my bathroom. My wife really wanted a soaking tub. While at the VFW one day my wife and I were discussing this, when Mike Colligan interrupted our conversation said that his specialty was bathrooms with “show room quality” and 40 years’ experience. This got our attention he showed me his Facebook page and after reviewing other remodels he did I hired this “clown”. I did most of the work myself including ripping up the floor installing the plumbing and, bringing the new tub up and putting it in place. I also brought up the tiles for both the floor and walls so that everything was readily available to them. I trusted Mike his Facebook page “promised quality, consistency, competency, fully insured” I never “bird dogged” him. Upon finishing I paid him in full thinking I was getting high quality work; after all he told me he was a “jack of all trades”. He said we could not enter the bathroom for 24 hours so tiles could dry. He then said he wanted a picture of my wife taking a bath (real professional) I inspected the work the day after he finished. After looking his work over I was not happy to say the least Mike never leveled the tub, which in turn created problems with setting the tiles. He cut a floor joist for no reason. I was sick to my stomach. I called him and expressed my concerns. When Mike came back a few days later I showed him the flaws and sloppy work that he did. He said he would talk with Mark Emanuel his helper who was there for the entire process and get back to me. When they came back a day or two later I again showed them the flaws including new ones I noticed. I told them this is not what I paid for neither Mike nor Mark said anything to us and left very abruptly. Mike said he would be in touch and left my house. We were contacted by his lawyer a few days later. Not only did I get a job that looked like couple amateurs did but I had to go and hire a lawyer. Mike was offering to compensate me but it would not cover the damage he did. He is not fully insured like his Facebook states. His insurance company denied the claim as he is not insured for faulty workmanship. Upon looking at the pictures I sent to his insurance company they told me this is not the work of a professional and agreed with me and said he should make it right. I tried to talk to him but he refuses to talk and said he has nothing to say to me. His contract also neglected to disclose information as required by law through the Attorney General’s Office. Mike Colligan claims to know more than he really does and misleads people. Save yourself a lot of aggravation and steer clear of this hack. The job he did for me was overpriced and to make it a professional quality the whole bathroom would have to be ripped and started from scratch.
