I have excellent forensic skills regarding solving puzzling problems. For example, I diagnosed the cause of repeated floor rot as NOT a leak (as it was believed through extensive prior repairs) but a disconnected heater flue wetting the structure with condensation (and poisoning the air although the house was leaky enough it never set off the carbon monoxide alarm.)

As a B License, I am able to take on many kinds of multifaceted projects and assign parts to specialists. For example, I do excellent small-scale drywall but will assign larger jobs to a subcontractor.

The bottom line is that I am a residential remodeler with an orientation to custom work usually in the middle price range, and adapted to client needs and budget.

    Considered for Container Home Construction

    Michael McVey is passionate about his work and wanted to do the project except I could not afford his rate of about $300 per sq ft of living space. My budget is limited to $100K all in from start to finish and I have to stick to it otherwise I will be breaking my first rule of living tiny and reduce my carbon footprint. Hoping that a year from now I will can see fruits of our years of sacrifices and giving up a lot of opportunities to be able to live mortgage free onward...

    Did a great job replacing two gates and repairing some fencing

    We needed to replace two old, insecure gates to our back yard. Michael McVey worked with us to decide how the new gates should be designed, how to install them and anchor them to existing fences, and how to secure the adjacent fence segments. The quality of his work is excellent. The only problem we encountered was scheduling the work, which took a couple months to work out. But the wait was worth it and we would hire him again for similar work.

    Considered for Exterior Stairs Rebuild

    He was on time and seemed very knowledgeable about the issue we are experiencing. We made some initial inquiries and was honest about time, permits and scope of project. We are currently awaiting an estimate from him to finalize the project and hire a contractor.
