Took $4000 deposit to build my deck in May 2018. He never came to build the deck all summer. He finally admitted that he spent my money on another project and did not have any money to pay the lumber company. He told me he would get it built if I paid for the lumber and the railing. I paid for the lumber & the railing-he still owes me over $3000. I am pursuing legal action against him. He lies and lies and lies and never follows through on his word.

    New deck reskin
    $13,000

We had the same experience as the two previously mentioned, with Mr. Smith taking our $8,000 deposit, with a promise (and at least 25 more!) to work on the project (deck) or return our deposit. We requested the return, of which he did, with a check that bounced. Legal action in process, as well!!!!

    Deck
    $6,600

Dear Michael H. My husband and I had the same experience.
Gave him a deposit for a composit deck in Oct. 2018, he had someone demo the deck and then weeks went by no composite.
So my husband was on a mission to find him and keep him hooked to his hip. We ended up paying a lumber company for the planking and Scott got that installed. But between the deposit and the lumber yard charge we had already spent the contracted amount and we didn’t have the posts or railings.
He finally said he had the money to pay the lumber yard for the rails , he gave them a bad check he put the rails on nd now the lumber yard is calling us wanting to find him. He is now in debt to the lumber company for several thousand dollars, and his phone is disconnected and I’m sure he never paid the labors who put on our deck , we gave them some cash but that was just to get them to come back and finish the project.
So basically this was a very disturbing experience.

Scott is a very smooth scam artist. We trusted him, felt bad for him as he lied to us and now we are still working on legal action to gett our deposit back. Don't hire him.

Scott Smith took $10,000 from me 3 months ago and still never got so much as a building permit. Do not give this man a dime unless you intend to hire a lawyer the same day. he has more excuses than a 12 year old child but unfortunately it's going to cost you a lot of money. Scott Smith will kill you with kindness but will also kill your budget. Scott Smith will not tell you the truth and tell you that tomorrow is going to be the day that you get started. Tomorrow will never come for you.

Scott Smith took $10,000 from me and in three months never got a building permit. Do not give this man $0.10 or you will lose your dime. He pretends his phone is broken and his voice mailbox will be full. it it will not tell you the truth about the status of your project because there is no status. he will kill you with politeness but still deprive you of your money with no action and one unfulfilled promise after another. if you sign a contract with this man you will need to retain an attorney the same day

I would never recommend this company to one who is owned by Scott Smith. Actually I do not find description apply to him. Just wish to be lucky enough to be away from this guy. I believe he stole this name from the actual company, not working , not have license, can trick you with never ending lies and over promises. Delay in starting the work, wasting time and money. We were lucky to get our money back , after we went to the police and civil attorney helped us to make report as crime , not civil. That is the only way worked with him. We do not believe that we got finally the money back. He was lying to the last minute. Please be careful to have the contract with dates on it , also review the contractor name with BBB. We learned a big lesson, but after a lot of frustration. Maybe I will thank this guy , only for teaching us this lesson. Wish good luck for everyone who , this guy , stole his money . I really feel bad that this guy keep wondering around, see who else can take his money forever!!. Good luck every one.

This contractor is a scam artist. He took my deposit, never showed up to work, and then never showed up to return my deposit. I am currently proceeding legal action against him.
