I have had an extremely terrible experience with Miguel Hernandez, the owner of Miguel Angelo Construction Corp. On September 4, 2019, I hired this company for doing the masonry work on my property. Miguel signed the contract of finishing the whole job in 3 ½ weeks. He requested me to pay the 1st payment of $4,000 upfront. He delayed starting the job for almost 2 weeks. After he fixed a crack on the driveway wall in 1 1/2 hours and sent his worker to work for one day, he asked me for another $1,000. When I refused to give in, he intimidated me aggressively by flaring up his hot temper and acting nasty. He threatened me that he would quit the job if I didn’t give the money to him. In the following 1 ½ years, he dragged me through the worst nightmare. He neither did the job himself with his workers nor supervised his worker. He never came to check his worker’s work throughout the day. So he had no idea that his worker talked on the cellar phone constantly and paid no attention to what he was doing. His worker did a shoddy job. He broke my mosaic bench by piling up gravels on it. He also rebuilt the backstairs that was not according to the building code. Now the handrail doesn’t fit the new stairs. Miguel eventually fired his worker. But he didn’t have a skillful worker to replace him. So my project was forced to be stopped for months. Before the last winter came, he lied to me that he had a special solution for mixing the cement under the cold temperature. But when winter came, he flipped by saying, “the temperature is too low for mixing the cement. The concrete will crack. Did you not want the warranty from me?” He left my front stair and pedestrian walkway in a hazard condition with cinder blocks & plywood on the ground, & metal sticks sticking out on top of the unfinished retainer wall. He left my driveway and backyard like a war-zone full of debris, gravels, and soil. I couldn’t use my driveway for 10 months. His worker dug out the big plants from my front yard and just left them to die above the ground. He resumed the work on July 6 after abandoned the job for over half a year.
But his worker only worked for 2 days and disappeared. Miguel has abandoned the job completely. He hasn’t returned my calls & text messages. He is the most unethical, unprofessional, unreliable, irresponsible, tricky, and selfish person whom I have ever met in my life.
While he delayed my project in the past 10 months, he went on vacation in SC and got away frequently to see family in PA. He doesn’t care about other people but himself. After he hadn’t finished ½ of the job in the 10 ½ months, I had to pay much more money for hiring another contractor to clean up his mess and redo his shoddy work that is not up to the building code. I also suit him at the Civil Court in 2021. He has lost the case, and owed me over $16,000. He didn’t pay the debt that he owes me.
WARNING: DON’T HIRE HIM & RUN AWAY FROM HIM IF YOU DON’T WANT TO BE SCAMMED, ABUSED VERBALLY, GO THROUGH WHAT I WENT THROUGH.
