We hired Mike Medina Plumbing to pull permit on two existing water heaters that were installed just 3 years prior. We were willing to pay the high price of $2575 on already existing water heaters so that the duplex would be up to code by having a permit filed . Bldg. & Safety did not pass one of the existing water heaters because it was near a window. I personally feel that Mike should discount 1/2 of the original quote because only half of the inspection passed. After all, he did not furnish the water heaters, and should know his trade. He should have known the code regarding clearance of water heaters. There was/is a time factor involved here as he well knows. He threatened my 80+ year old father of the fines Housing would charge if the project was delayed, and thus was paid on the spot for a new tankless water heater. This started in February 2017 and continues today, June 2017. The proper permit still remains to be pulled after paying him the additional $2650 to furnish and install the new tankless water heater. Housing just informed my father that he will be fined $1000 in addition to being sued and having to go to court for the missing permit. I believe my father has been fined $250 every month since March for said missing permit.
Like Nadine wrote, communication is terrible. When I do speak with Mike, I find him threatening. He has falsely put a lien on the property saying he hasn't been paid. That is a lie. Mike doesn't provide contracts, invoices, or receipts until after the fact, and only when hounded.
I'd run, and if you still want to hire him, be advised that it's against the law for him to work without a contract, work without pulling permits, against the law to work on plumbing projects that he is not licensed for, and against the law to demand deposits of 50% or more.
Be ready to do all the leg work in obtaining copies of the permits because he refuses.
One more thing, Be Sure To Get A Lien Waiver signed by Mike when you pay him!!! -

The worst plumber I have ever had. Did a repipe for my house. Instead of the normal 2 days, everyone else quoted, he said 5 days. Then they took almost one month. Leaving me without anyone coming for days...no communication but the worst part was the job itself. They did not brace / strap down the pipes sufficiently and not at all on one of the new tub fixtures also installed. A brand new fixture they installed in my shower is loose. They cut holes in the wire mesh / vent under the house (crawl space) leaving huge holes everywhere for rats to get in. Where I had once been a fortress, thanks to the plumbers I hired for an expensive slow job, now I have a rat problem to deal with. I would give him zero stars if I could. He's rude, zero communication and does a crap job. Run away from this guy.

Hired Mike Medina Plumbing to plumb new bathroom renno and move our hot water heater. Job was done quickly, professionally and with no problem at all! He also saved me a ton of money, as another plumber tried to sell me on replacing all sewer pipes under house, Mike looked to give me a bid and told me that my pipes...although rusty on the outside... were in great shape and would be around for many many years to come. He could have given me a bid..,but instead he was HONEST!
