Permits
- Building permit records show that Miner Construction Inc has worked on 11 permitted projects.
Our company hired Miner Construction (Howard “Skip” Kasat and Michele Pugleasa) for the renovation of a property in December of 2017. The project started off quickly but soon after from our point of view was full of contractual errors, used unlicensed subcontractors, did poor Workman ship and used highly specific interpretation of the quote. One example shown in the images, was a quoted replace /resize window. After the widow was installed we were told that and flashing and siding work was not part of that quote. We found this to be a common issue. The drywall was one of our biggest concerns as we felt the quality unacceptable (see pictures) We felt that in person and email conversations contradicted each other. We recorded conversations so we could review them later and not have a skewed memories of the events. We also found signed contract documents were edited at later dates without signed addendums. During the first final weekend of construction (March 2018), many items remained incomplete: all final electrical after ruff in, unwired service panel, tile work, flooring, trim, etc. The claim is that countertops, that were responsible by us, prevented all other work from being completed. We changed the lock box code after not being able to get ahold of Miner Construction. After some communication from lawyers on both sides, Miner returned to complete work. Their interpretation of the contract was very literal and completed only items needed to close permits. We fired Miner (June 2018) after contract items were left undone and that poor work we identified was not remedied. Miner Construction foreclosed on the property (June 2019) for non payment, as allowed by the state of Minnesota. After more communication through lawyers the issue was settled out of court. After reviewing Twin cities online construction permit documents and searching Hennepin county tax records for mechanics liens, we found 3 other properties in 2018 that had mechanics liens placed on them by Miner Construction. We reached out to these property owners and found they had similar experiences.
