THE JOB WAS STARTED WITH THE ASSURANCE HE WOULD FINISH WHEN THE MATERIALS ARRIVED. AFTER PROMISING TO COME ON MULTIPLE DATES, HE DIDN'T SHOW UP AND NEVER RESPONDED BACK AFTER MANY ATTEMPTS TO CONTACT HIM. IT HAS BEEN NEARLY 2 MONTHS. HE LEFT MUCH TRASH THAT WAS SUPPOSED TO BE HAULED AWAY. I QUESTION WHETHER HE IS STILL IN BUSINESS AS I'VE SEEN 2 RECENT REVIEWS, PAST 30 DAYS, WITH THE SAME COMPLAINT. MY DECK WAS TAKEN APART IN MID JUNE AND I HAD NO USE OF IT THE ENTIRE SUMMER.
Response from Mirra & Sons Complete Carpentry, LLC October 18, 2021Mr,Ingles. Disgust that I was to do this job once all the materials arrived. I started the job before the materials were there and completed everything that was discussed there was an agreement on labor because a lot of stuff was unseen I did everything that was expected the material never arrived so I went and started another project. I spent two days with the client going over all the material and everything that he needed it all was on backorder because of this pandemic. When I left the job I took a full trailer load of trash to the dump the client continued to do some more demolition when I was not there and created more trash that was not my responsibility to remove that and I guess he assumed that it was. I have all documents time spent and pictures of the project. -

And if there was a way to put zero stars I most definitely would....the most unprofessional contractor I have ever dealt with in my life. WOULD never recommend as my project is incomplete and he is no longer finishing the job (mutually agreed). I have two doors on order (paid in full by the way) and when I asked him to just deliver them and we will have someone else install, he told the mediator (a police officer) that he would not be doing that. Yes, we needed a police officer at out home, as a result of his unprofessional behavior and screaming and yelling to both me and my husband and the entire neighborhood to hear, not to mention the vulgar things he said.....BEWARE, when you start to question him, he gets very angry and a simple call from the customer to the supplier to try to get more detail about delivery date apparently is "humiliating" to him....however, had he responded to text messages and phone calls or showed up when he said he would, I would not have needed to contact supplier. He is also not specific on his contracts as he words them in a way to take advantage of the customer and suggests, its your issue to deal with....example: told him I wanted fans and lights in my porch, he includes electrical on the contract to install brackets and power outlet, however, I am responsible for hiring the electrician???...like I said, never in my life have I had this type of experience..... He literally yelled at me for contacting the supplier of my doors that were ordered to see when they were coming in.....sent me a text saying they would be here this week, but never committed to a day to install them, so I sit in limbo and have no idea what day he will be here. I decide to call the supplier to see if they have come in and what else is necessary for delivery. Sam literally yells at me in text and then yells when he arrives at my house saying I had no right to call the supplier....ummm, excuse me....I am the customer and have a right to know when something I have paid for is coming in.....and if you would respond to text messages as a normal contractor then you would not have a customer feel like they have to reach out on there own. Needless to say he will not be completing our project. At this point he owes us thousands of dollars. ....BEWARE and oh, he does not comply with HICPA regarding how much money you need to pay at start of job (ie anything over 5000.00 should be 1/3 payment to start....not for him!! He expects ALOT up front (almost 50 percent) and in some cases like my doors....75%....told me he needed to pay them in full to place the order...interesting when I called he only paid a deposit....also asked him for itemization of everything and he told me he WOULD not give it to me....(only in the case of the doors). These are all documented facts.
Response from Mirra & Sons Complete Carpentry, LLC October 18, 2021I just want to defend myself in this matter Everything this client is saying is not true. Miss Newman and myself laid out this project according to her having a hot tub installed when we laid out this project Miss Newman told me that a hot tub was going in the area that we were putting a roof over top of. Related out at 12 ft off the house and 38 ft long when the hot tub was delivered it was bigger than she anticipated just so whoever reads this understands I was not involved in this hot tub at all I was going off of Mrs Newman's measurements so when the hot tub was delivered it was bigger than anticipated and the roof was too small so we had to do a revision the roof needed to be 16 ft off the house which obviously cost a lot more money so I wrote up a revision and it was $7800 extra I gave me a 10% discount which brought it down to $7,000 she was not happy she proceeded to blame me for the measurements again I had nothing to do with the purchasing of the hot tub or the installation of it I built the roof beautiful it is 100% completed I have text messages from Miss Newman stating that she's very happy with the way it looks she just didn't want to pay. Regarding her doors I did not tell her they had to be paid in full I said I needed a deposit I got that written in a contract because the corona I could not control the manufacturer of the doors I was in communication with Miss Newman throughout the project regarding her doors hard doors are in but she threw me off the job I have pictures of the project it is beautiful again she just didn't want to pay so I'm in court with her regarding the balance of almost $20,000 my reputation means a lot to me and she knows that she . Again I have pictures of all the work and text messages that she was very happy w So now I'm in court with her and when the decision comes to my favor I will post that. I just can't please everyone but I do my best -

Sam and his team did a phenomenal job. They were always on time, clean, and thorough. Sam was regularly in communication with us throughout the project and we couldn't be happier.

I hired Mirra and Sons complete Carpentry for a couple of small to medium projects. Initially, they were very professional, on time and worked non-stop for the quoted time. Despite some minor hiccups they did a decent overall job.
However, recently they took a $400 deposit for my exterior door trim/capping with transom glass replacement project. They only worked half a day and then stopped. Left the job half way and never came back. They had told me they needed to go pickup something and would be coming back to complete the project. It has been several weeks now and no response from the owner Sam Mirra nor are they responding to my messages. I had to cleanup the paint mess they created on my exterior door trim.
Further, they quoted $2,000 for a medium sized project which included some basic painting on the exterior masonry windowsills of my house, backsplash of my kitchen and some repairs to the bathroom tile flooring. To date, they never honored their word despite knowing that I had independent inspections from
the city scheduled for the work to be inspected.Ultimately, I had to hire other contractors to complete the work.
Looking at their company description and experience in the industry, I never expected Mirra and Sons to walk away from a job big or small even if it meant they misquoted the price based on their own estimates.

There is No Doubt Sam Mirra is a competent carpenter…
He's An overall a good guy
Sam can get your job done…..Your basic job that is… But your going to PAY
Sam was upfront stating he don’t do any painting…BUT He knows a guy….$$$
Oops Sam forgot to mention that he doesn’t do any finishing, no cabinetry, no shelving……SMH
You have to buy all your doors, knobs, light fixtures, etc., These necessary items are not included in cost.
Quote from Sam : “He’s not cheap, He stands behind his work, he does excellent work” .
That should have been my sign to Run……. actually, I did not hire Sam initially because of that quote.
I called Sam and gave him another chance, because I knew he could do the work, and the work would be correct. I was on a timeline to get the work completed. Because of the hefty price tag, I didn’t believe I would be hassled, and the work would be completed on time.
Sam gave me a quote, started my job, after a few days into the project Sam advised me of a prospective problem, left by my previous contractor, but he could fix the problem and save me a major headache later. For an additional $2000. I said Yeah fix the problem.
Sam constantly criticized, compared & complained of mistakes the previous contractor did or didn’t do correctly. This should have been a RED FLAG
Sam & his Son completed my renovation project, there was a few mishaps along the way (minus shelving closet doorknob, screen door being hung (being fair the screen door didn’t arrive until project was finish).
Sam was paid in full his overpriced project quote price. (Which was no way cheap)
I guess that’s Sam’s routine, After the job was completed, I received a whopping unexpected invoice $3450. Price tag for incidentals unforeseen circumstances. I paid for all material/supplies even trash bags. That was really, Unbelievable Sam, I trusted you.
Sam is a hellva contractor but watch out for unforeseen circumstances andincidental charges.... Sam does a Great Job, but you will pay$$$ Sam, charged me for reroute air ducts, and I had to hire Horizon to correct that unforeseen circumstance, but when I told Sam that no air was reaching 2nd floor, Sam nonchalantly stated it was due to the air filters being clogged……
