By Mike D.November 9, 2016Build a Metal Building225 days
We signed a contract for a 30x30 building in Jan. 2016. With all the rain we couldn't get a dirt pad laid until July. They finally dropped the materials off in Sept. The next day a group came out and built the frame and told us someone should be out within the week to put up the siding. With all the rain the pad is washing away. Well it is Nov. no one has shown up. My husband and I have called numerous times with no response. What do we have to do to get this finished? We paid deposit in Jan. and a huge chuck of money when they dropped off materials. The frame builders wanted us to give them money also, my husband told them to get it from Mitchell. This is very stressful I think we are being taken advantage of. NOW WHAT?????

AnonymousMay 19, 2016Shop$17,000120 days
I had Mitchell Buildings build a 30x50 shop. The crew that come out and built the building was great. I can't complain about them. But after that is when they sent another crew to pour the concrete. They showed up like they were mad to be there. They had me order the concrete from a local company. Took them till 2:00 in the morning to finish it. Started cracking within two days. I understand that concrete cracks and I can live with surface cracks but this is way worse. I started calling Mitchell Buildings and got no where. Finally talked to the woman in the office and that I needed to call the guys who poured the concrete. I didn't hire them. I hired Mitchell Buildings. My building has three garage doors in it and the concrete is so unlevel that two of them don't seal at the floor. Cracks are so bad you can trip over one of them. Now Mitchell Building will not return my email or calls. Horrible company but I guess they already have my money.

By Arthur C.January 5, 20162000 sqft building with 1000 sqft wing$37,0002 daysSubstandard contractor
Would not recommend this contractor to build a chicken coop.
I had a building erected with a wing approx two years ago. Three weeks ago a cold front blew through the area and the whole wing ripped off and fell on a company work truck. I needed building repairs done fast as when the wing ripped off it took about 10% of the roof with it. I called another contractor and he was there within a few hours. Upon inspection and to get an estimate of the damage he informed me of a few problems he saw. First off the wing which was a 1000 sqft and weighed approx 2300 lbs was attached to the main building with only 18 screws, 8 of which were in the wall sheeting and three were in one foot blocks. Only seven screws were in main post. Seven screws to hold a wing this size 16' in the air. He also stated the purlin and girter spacing did not look right. Upon measuring and looking at all my original paperwork I found that he was correct. When confronted with all this information all I can get out of the owner is that it was an act of God and they were not liable. They state the building was put up right and that they would be happy to put a bid in for repairs. From start to finish this has got to be some of the worst customer service I have ever experienced Again I would not use these people to build a chicken coop

By Liz C.August 13, 2014erect metal garageBad Business to Deal with
We signed a contract with Mitchell Buildings on June 16,2014, and as of August 13,2014 we still do not have anything but a pile of building material that was delivered and left out exposed to the elements in our yard. We have had our pad and sand like the contract states for almost a month. My husband has called numerous times and has gotten a different story each time. The best one was last week when the scheduler told him that she had sent all the crews home for two weeks and it would be this week before she would call them back. So, when he called today (8-13-14) he was told that there are a lot of buildings on the ground and it would be next week before they would get to us. I read this morning a complaint they had with the BBB that sounds eerily familiar and I feel we are in for the same nightmare with this company. I am not impressed at this point at all with this company.

very poor construction. cement started cracking within 6 months. After Hurricane Laura, August 27, 2020 when the roof blew off, we found that more than half of the rafters and trousses were not even nailed. I told them the barn needed to e built so that 12 X 12 premaid stalls would fit right. They did not allow for the size of the pipe, so therefore, one stall had to be adjusted and is NOT 12x 12 now. very poor work ethics. WOULD NOT RECOMMEND MITCHELL BUILDERS AT ALL
