  Responding to the women above, that is totally untrue and I need to set the record straight. I was one of the guys working in her home and she didn’t have the funds to paint her entire home is what she told us, so to cut cost we suggested to only paint doors and jambs facing out to the walls we were painting among other things. She couldn’t afford us to paint the bathrooms, closets and upstairs at that time. On most occasions we were there she would call the owner and tell him we had to leave because she had things to do. The $200 she is speaking of was a courtesy to withhold some pay because we weren’t finished with the door. After a couple times of this the owner refunded her for one door and jamb inside the laundry room and decided to move forward. Modern designs is a really good, quality painting company and I know I’ve worked for MANY. He is honest and works with us on most jobs and I have never seen in the 6 years I e worked for him EVER one person complain. Take it for what it’s worth, dont trust one persons opinion who you don’t even know or if she’s even telling the truth

  paint the whole downstairs of our house

  I hired these guys to paint my downstairs walls. It was a yellow color and I wanted it to be a light gray. He was also going to paint all 'inside doors'. While the guys were here on the last day my husband and I both asked when they were going to do the bathroom. They put us off a couple times and finally said that the bathroom wasn't included in the contract. I looked and it wasn't. I don't understand how anyone would think I wouldn't want my 'yellow' bathroom to also be painted while doing the whole rest of my downstairs. Then we noticed that the backside of the doors they painted weren't done. 'Inside doors' I assumed to mean doors that were not outside but inside my home. They told me that was what 'inside' meant , one side facing room they were painting. So since they didn't paint the bathroom, the inside of bathroom door wasn't painted. The inside pantry door wasn't painted. Our inside closet door wasn't painted and the inside door of the laundry room (which they painted) wasn't done either. So when we communicated this to him while his guys were still here he told us we could deduct $200 from remaining bill. He said the only door that he owed us to paint was the inside of laundry room door. We paid him in full and told him we wanted the job completed so we didn't deduct any money. For two months I tried to get him out to finish the job. I guess we should have deducted the $200. Stupid us. He contacted me one evening and gave me a time the next morning which I wasn't able to do. Other than that there was no effort made to finish the job. We contacted him and asked for a $200 refund which he denied and said that was too much now. We then went down to $100 for all of the 'miscommunication' and 2 months of effort to try to get job done. We still had to have bathroom painted and all the backs of our 'inside doors' on 4 doors. He said that was still too much. We haven't heard a word from him since. He stole from us and he eliminated the bathroom from the contract without notifying us. I thought he was being fair with the price quoted little did I know that I was only going to get half the job completed.
