By Tonya S.July 21, 2021Fix the repairs noted in License Inspection$10,000Read more
I have attached the Licensed Inspector’s Report. As noted some of the repairs were inadequate or not performed at all!!! I am again requesting ALL repairs be properly done by a License Professional in the area of the nature of the damages reported and recorded by this Licensed Inspector. I am still at the property and will be here until ALL repairs are done “Satisfactory” by the Licensed Inspector. It’s been over a month and Mohler Homes hasn’t done what is necessary for the License Inspector to pass everything as “Satisfactory”. I’ve been home since Wednesday, July 14, 2021 0606 hours and Mohler Homes have sent persons out on Thursday and Friday only performing around 7am-9am on Thursday which were the Landscapers and on Friday around 7am-noon which were the Landscapers, Bricklayer who repaired areas in the crawl space, someone underneath Larry Abott to fix the Shingles on the roof, the same person changed the panel in the guest bedroom closet and painted it. This is becoming mentally and physically draining. Sleeping on a cot and sleeping in a motel is getting expensive as well as having to travel back and forth due to unnecessary repairs that shouldn’t exist in the first place. Saturday, July 24, 2021 will make a year and for me to constantly have issues is pathetic. If by the next Inspection these repairs are not “Satisfactory” a lawyer will be contacting you. I thought by contacting the VA which grant Mohler Homes permission to build homes for Military and Veterans, plus contacting the BBB, Mohler Homes would have stepped up and honored their 1yr Warranty. However, I now see I will have to get a Real Estate Lawyer involved.

By Bonny M.August 28, 2020Finish a new construction home$22,000,000
Bought a new construction from Mohler. Close date was moved three times for delays on THEiR part with no adjustments for the purchase delay. Inspector found 35 items to include roofing issues. When doing walk through used a whole new roll of painters tape marking things from the horrible paint job to 4 split interior doors, additional doors not being level, kaulking incomplete in baths, broken vanities, extra concrete spills around slab, broken air cage, spigette In front covered with siding, broken eve covers and a unpainted interior garage walls. Makes me extremely nervous to take possession cause what can’t we see? Blame the subcontractors but this.? builder should have been paying attention to HIS business. We are in a brand new subdivision in Raeford where he has about a half dozen more going up. It’s the non-attention to detail that make this a complete crap show. Friends down the street had exact same issues. May not want this builder doing your new home or remodel. Was the worst experience when all of this could have gone way differently.
Response from Mohler Homes, Inc September 21, 2020Mohler Homes takes great pride in the craftsmanship of their new construction. This review is quite unfair considering the COVID-19 pandemic. The contract date of this home was May 29, 2020 with a projected closing date of July 22, 2020. The home had all final inspections completed by August 6, 2020 and Mohler Homes was prepared to close. Unfortunately, the buyer being a member of the US Army, was deployed on August 5th and so therefore he delayed the walk-thru until August 26th and closed on August 27th. In response to the home inspection, it was conducted on July 27th, before the home was 100% complete. The issues at walk-thru were completed within 7 days. Without fail, all North Carolina general contractors are having delayed closings due to the inability to obtain building material. Mohler Homes could not avoid the delay in construction. We are in the highest of hopes that you enjoy your new home.

Our walls on our stairs and in closets aren’t in line with each other (like one side is longer than the other), baseboards are atrocious because they were very badly caulked & not cleaned before spraying with paint, bannister for the stairs wasn’t entirely painted, had to pay $3k out of pocket to get yard regraded because they messed it up multiple times, caulking in the entire house is awful, heating & cooling is super inconsistent throughout the house, the entire house shakes when the garage opens, door jambs are cut incredibly jagged, large spaces between flooring & base boards, flooring coming up after just 18 months of living in the house, grounding rods sticking out of the ground in the yard, and we’ve continued to pull up just tons of rebar, doors for the pantry constantly get stuck when trying to open them, huge slabs of concrete, and tons of other trash just left and buried on our lot. They wouldn’t take a home inspector report for the one year warranty, and hardly fixed anything/ the things they did fix are already looking bad just 6 months later. Also I brought all of this up to the company when they were doing my 1 year walkthrough, and they refused to fix anything other than the nailpops, minor paint stuff, dry wall tape, and they fixed some of the uneven flooring. But less than 30 days after they did the “fixes” we had dry wall tape coming off and more nail pops. I could go on & on about the build of these homes, but it’s just been an absolute nightmare.
