    Electrical Wiring for new garage
    $3,710

DO NOT HIRE Gavin Mosby for any electrical work ever!

He will do a SLOPPY job because HE DOES NOT MEASURE, he eyeballs everything instead. He also DOES NOT CARE AT ALL about how his job looks when it’s done.

My wife and I hired him to do the electric wiring on a brand new garage. We are not licensed electricians and trusted him to do the work because he claims he is a professional. The day he did the wiring he left without letting us know he was done and when we walked into the garage there were wires strung through holes in the exposed beams at waist and chest height. These wires were unsightly and easily could have been grabbed or pulled on by anyone by accident. There were also wires installed in places that prohibit access to storage areas. I always thought the objective for an electrician was to hide the wires neatly and keep areas accessible.

When we brought up our concern and frustration at the poor job to Gavin he said it was our fault for not telling him exactly where we wanted the wires to go and that the job he had done was “standard.” Not only that, but now if we wanted it to be changed we would have to pay him an extra $150 for him to make it look nice. What we didn’t notice at the time was that there were holes in almost every piece of brand new wood on every wall in the garage. Later, we brought this to Gavin’s attention and again he said it was “standard” and “no big deal.” I asked him why there were holes in the beams in places where the initial wiring hadn’t even been strung and he said, “My guys were going to put the wires through there, but then we changed our minds.” So now our brand new garage is RUINED with unsightly holes all over the exposed beams on every wall and when discussing this with Gavin he got a terrible attitude, placed all the blame on us and took no responsibility for DOING A POOR JOB IN THE FIRST PLACE. This kind of practice seems an awful lot like someone trying to milk as much money as he can from a client by doing something poorly and then charging extra to fix it!

Additionally, there were a few other instances of unprofessionalism in the way Gavin did the job on our garage. He claimed to be done so he could get the check for the remaining balance and then texted later that day to say he had to come back the next morning to finish a few details - that means he was not done! He broke a broom we had left in our garage and did not tell us. And lastly, at one point he realized he needed an extra part to do something so we asked what the part was so we could buy it and pick it up, but he casually dismissed us and did not tell us what needed to be picked up - so that the next time he was on the job he could charge us extra for having to go to the hardware store to pick up the part!

The Mosby Electric website says “Customer Satisfaction Guaranteed” and that “We will not leave the job until you are satisfied” and that is an outright lie. If you tell Gavin you are unhappy or unsatisfied with the job he has done, he will get an attitude, blame you, and then possibly break things in your house (like our broom, which looked like it was snapped in half over the leg). DO NOT HIRE GAVIN MOSBY. HE WILL DO A SLOPPY JOB, NICKEL AND DIME YOU, BE RUDE TO YOU AND VERY LIKELY RUIN WALLS BY DRILLING UNNECESSARY HOLES WITHOUT MEASURING OR HAVING A SMART PLAN DEVELOPED BEFOREHAND.

Response from Mosby Electric July 8, 2020
We're sorry for your lack of satisfaction with Mosby Electric. However, we thoroughly explained to each customer where our work will be laid out before we begin. Work was completed and ready for inspection, and you had a change of heart on how the wires were ran through the 2x4's. I am more than willing to change things, but now those existing holes will remain. Per your new instructions, you where okay with the change order charge of $150 and in turn became angry with me for the row of holes in the 2x4's left per your original instructions and wanted that $150 taken off the bill in which i took $25 off. Once again you knew the locations and route of our work and then changed your mind. Please make sure for future contractors that you tell them exact placement of where you want the work to be. The error in which you are referring is on one wall not the entire garage or the beams which are above!! PLEASE BE HONEST!
