    Remodel

If you are looking for a contractor I would highly recommend Steve Mosco, Mosco Contracting. A friend recommended Steve to me because he had done such a great job on their basement. He Is prompt, detail oriented, very hard working and a very nice guy. I am very happy with my remodel.

bedroom addition, covered deck, concrete patio

We used BuildZoom and selected Steve Mosco over 2 other contractors. Steve's bid wasn't the cheapest, but not the most expensive either. He created the plans for our addition and then we decided to go with him. Steve was very upfront with us as to the timeline and costs involved. He is very easy to get along with and flexible with his schedule, if need be. Our building inspector was impressed with Steve's level of detail and providing more than just the basic support needed for our addition and covered deck. Steve is very approachable and responsive to any questions/concerns that we had during the project. I would recommend him if you are looking to put on an addition, deck, and/or any other home remodeling project.

    Garage Construction project

Our contract with Steve was for over 160k to put on a garage with an apartment above it. We had three major issues: 1) he put the structure 1 foot from where it was supposed to be placed. 2) he would never give a completion date and it took about 7 months for him to complete and it should have been a lot faster. 3) we had issues with a pocket door and a poorly installed leaking shower door and he ghosted us instead of fixing it. It cost us a lot of money to have someone else do the repairs when it was his responsibility.

Great contractor and person. I had a leak around some vinyl siding....he was very upfront with his initial quote and even though he was busy, he made time to come out and help me. When he completed the project, the price was very reasonable....very good contractor!

    Building Renovation

Mr. Mosco did the renovation on our company building from what used to be a garage for auto repairs to a stunning office space. We loved working with Mr. Mosco, aside from his great sense of humor and always pleasant and kind demeanor, he is a top of the line professional at his craft. He listened to what we wanted, worked with us on any changes, made fantastic suggestions so that our outcome was exactly as desired and maintained his work schedule so that we were able to quickly utilize our much needed space. Mr. Mosco became part of our family, and we were always as excited to see him as we were the fantastic work that he did. I would recommend Mr. Mosco to anyone looking for General Contracting work and I hope to have future projects, both personally and professionally, that we will be able to utilize his expertise on. If you are looking for a top of the line contractor that has your best interests at the heart of every decision that they make then, hands down, Mr. Mosco is your man!

    Kitchen remodel/mudroom/bathroom
    $100,000

Steve did a wonderful job on our remodeling project. There were several surprises behind the walls during demolition, but all went well and we are very happy. The project included taking a piece of the garage to create a mudroom/new entrance, moving a bathroom, and then complete remodel of the kitchen including moving all appliances, fixtures, and taking down several walls. Steve was responsive to all our concerns and made sure we were happy. Changes were not a problem.

He works on one project at a time and is there each day doing much of the work himself. Speed is not his forte, but if you want it done right and you want someone you trust in your home then he is your guy. He was so pleasant and trust worthy. My kids and nanny miss him.

His initial estimate was lower than others but similar once we accounted for what was included and took out the allowances in other contracts not included in his.

We still have a few finishes to the project because it got too cold for the outdoor painting and concrete. He has been in contact and I am sure they will be finished soon.

    $35,000

I had Mosco Contracting do a rather large expansion to my commercial office building in Mars, PA. Steve and his crew did an outstanding job on the quality of construction as well as bringing the job in at budget and on time.
Subsequently, I have had them do numerous smaller remodeling jobs with the same results. I will be calling them for my next project as well.

    Screened porch addition

Steve did a screened porch addition for us and has done a few other smaller projects. Steve is really easy to work with and listened to our ideas. We love our porch and would recommend him for any home improvement project.

    $90,000

He is a hard working contractor that has the potential to give you a remodel/addition of your dreams. Steve and I got along great throughout the process of building my addition. It wasn't till after he finished his portion of the project that the experience started to leave a bad taste in my mouth. First, lets backtrack.

Steve Mosco was the person I chose to build my addition based off architect's plans. The addition included a powder room, laundry closet, master bath, and loft. I live in an urban town where houses are close together and space is tight. His estimate was pretty much the average of the 7 estimates I received. His time estimate was 2-3 months. The project start was delayed over a month due to him wrapping up his previous project. The demolition, foundation, framing, and drywall aspects of the project went without hitch. Steve officially concluded his contract after 4 months, one month over.

Besides the time estimate, my main complaints come down to two areas: Finishing touches and Communication.

    Communication:
    1) At the start of the project, he said he wasn't going to get a dumpster. One day, I came home to find a monster dumpster that took up my entire back yard. To accomplish this, he removed large limbs from 2 trees (out of the three in my yard). I was never consulted. The two trees needed to be removed, but Steve wouldn't do it. He compensated me instead.

    2) I asked if he could install a new water heater as part of the project, he said "yes, no problem." I provided the water heater, and he installed it. We get to the final payment, and he billed me $800 to install the water heater (conveniently, the same cost of the tree compensation). He never once mentioned he was going to charge me for it, and at $800, it higher than the highest estimate on homewyse. It was a substandard install (tank is crooked, pipes now drip). This happened with a few other things.

    3) To reduce cost at the beginning of the project, I told him I would do the painting which he was glad to let go. It wasn't till I was ready to paint, that he mentioned I had to do all the Trim Caulking and Nail hole filling. It was preposterous. If I hire a painter, he would not do those things. I don't know if Steve dumped it off on me since he was a month late on the schedule or what, but it easily added a month to the completion of the project.

    4) We talked about redoing the entire side of the roof to make it match the addition and not void any roof warranty. Without consultation, he just did the addition roof and tucked in the best he could under the existing roof. My warranty is probably void.

    5) He said he would underpin the existing foundation. Going back through pictures, I noticed he didn't underpin under the major supporting beam of the addition. I started to notice a crack in my drywall near this beam. I'll probably have to hire someone to fix the foundation in the spring.

    Finishes:
    1) He matched the look of the trim very well. But a lot of it is chewed up and has marks in it. I don't know what caused it, but it is not very pretty in some areas.

    2) All of my outlets in my kitchen are installed out of level. Some are more than an inch off from each other. This was very noticeable when I had a subway backsplash installed. This might be my biggest peeve.

    3) Little things such as not matching the caulk color. He tiled my bathroom floor and shower with charcoal and creme grout. Yet, he used jet black and bright white caulk instead of the matching caulk.

    4) He left unfinished tile edges around shelves and the bench in the shower rather than using a metal trim like he did on the outside of the shower.

    5) He left the protective film on the exhaust hood...but he didn't realize it wrapped around to the back. I had to remove the exhuast hood to remove the film.

    6) He didn't undercut some of the doors enough for transition strips, I'll have to remove the doors and cut them down.

    7) He built stairs and a nice little deck...but he put the supports on my side walk. When I go to put in a patio next year, I'll have to redo the supports.

    8) Not directly Steve's fault, but one of the drywall finishers did not use a vacuum one day when he was sanding. I came home to find a layer of drywall dust on everything, even inside cabinets. We have cleaned several times and you can still see dust on the floor. We pretty much have to move every piece of furniture and clean under it. We may cave and hire a professional cleaning company.

I really don't mean to bash Steve, he is a nice guy; we got along great. But in hindsight, I wish I went with another contractor. I don't know if Steve was pressed for time, but the quality of his work in the finishing stage was lackluster. I am now in the 6th month of the project (twice the estimate!) and I have yet to move into my bedroom. If you do choose Steve, my only recommendation would be to keep an eye on him and let him do the painting!

    Honest Contractor!

Steve is fantastic. Number one, he is incredibly professional. Showed up when he said he would, kept in constant contact, would ask about something BEFORE he did it. If there was going to be an added expense, he was upfront about it. He listened to me and what I wanted the space to be like, and we made changes along the way. His craftsmanship is impeccable. He renovated our basement and it's the most beautiful room in my house now. The walls are perfect, the details are amazing, and there were absolutely zero corners cut.

I recommend him to everyone who ever needs a contractor. There's a lot of people in the business and communication is typically awful, but not with Steve Mosco. From start to finish, I enjoyed him being in my home and creating a space my family can grow in to. I look forward to our future projects. Thank you so much, Steve!

    Great Guy. Great Work!

Steve just completed an addition which added two bathrooms (one on each side of our duplex) along with a much needed walk-in closet. Steve was on the job personally every day and his communication with my wife and me was superb.

The price was fair, the work excellent and Steve is a really nice guy. Call him for your next remodeling project. You will be glad you did.

    Professional Contractor

We recently had Steve and Randy finish our basement. I love that that as contractors they welcomed my suggestions and we were able to come up with many unique designs. To include, a penny floor on our landing, a piece of artwork to hide our utility box, a galvanized pipe foot rest for out bar. The project encompassed working with many other specialist and Steve was able to ensure the project was completed above our satisfaction. They did not just complete our basement they created an extension to our living space. You can't go wrong going with Mosco Contracting! We will be using them for our next home improvement project.
