  Trim and crown molding

  $100

  Hired for trim work. Super fair priced but Miguel had sent 2 of his guys out to the job without him there. The scheduling is a mess they pretty much show up whenever they want. They didn’t finish and it’s been over a month now and I’m waiting on them to come back. Tread lightly . Upon asking Miguel to come back he got defensive and mad about it

  prepping, priming and painting two rooms (two coats)

  Miguel seems to be the owner of Mr. Ryan Painting. Below is the good and the bad:

  THE GOOD: Miguel sent two of his painters to do prep work and paint two coats of paint in my rental property: living room, master bedroom and some connecting passage. The prep work was meticulous. The paint was of even higher quality than he told me he was using (Sherwin Williams). The painters did a marvelous job. They were very polite also. The price was quite fair. The company is licensed in NJ, insured and in good standing with the State.

  THE BAD: Miguel is difficult to deal with and scheduling was a mess. I admit I was responsible for one delay. My tenant had urged me to schedule the painting, and then 2 days later, she said she'd call the police if I let painters into her apartment. I had no choice but to reschedule. I told Miguel and he seemed understanding -- he even offered to send the deposit back but I said no, keep it, the delay was just 2 weeks. I told him the new dates in the same conversation and he agreed. I followed up with a reminder email about the dates about a week before the job was scheduled. All seemed OK. I called the day before the job to make sure he was coming. He was really rude and told me I'd changed my mind too many times (one time, actually) and he had no one to send. After reminding him of the prior calls and emails, he agreed to send painters. Any questions or concerns on my part were met with "you want the paint job or no; I'll take them off the job". Basically, I was stuck. I was fully prepared for a half-@ssed job but extremely pleased with the result. It has now been a month and I've requested my receipt 4 times but still do not have it.

  Bottom line: Mr Ryan Painting (if you can get them) is very reasonably priced, meticulous in preparation, painting and clean-up, and the final job, at least in my case, was outstanding. Just don't expect much in the way of customer service or bookkeeping.
