Murray and Sons has completed several large jobs on my 1840s house, including putting in a sill plate and renovating our kitchen. He is remarkably good at all aspects of the work; he is committed to doing the job right. He does what he says he will, shows up when he says he will, keeps good communication whether the work is going well or not. Dan's outward nature is gruff but that has never gotten in the way of his completing the work, at the price agreed upon and completing it well. I have had general contractors walk away from contracts, do lousy work, never call. Dan is a pleasure to work with.

Renovated the kitchen and bathroom in my new house and it looks awesome! We wanted to have all the work done before we moved in and he finished ahead of schedule.

house paint job is poor- peeling a few years later, was suppose to use oil primer that was explicitly written in contract, because I know what I was talking about, but he used latex exterior, he didn't follow prep properly. Now I have to plan on spending money again to redo the work..peeling everywhere. Terrible work schedules since he does NOT live in west roxbury and has a long commute...uses local address - why not just say you live far away? Oh, I know, you won't get business in Boston but you ruined your reputation on your own. People, make sure your contracts clearly say clean up otherwise he won't lift a stitch to throw away debris, unless he can reuse something for himself. Attitude is abrasive, good luck! I saw no reviews before hiring him, people were scared to write something bad? Maybe they were elderly and didn't know about YELP...
