Working with Nationwide build was Ok, but with a couple of challenges, one still unresolved almost a year later.
As I have found with many contractors these days, they respond quickly with interest in a project, but then are a bit slow to get started. In our case, the job was exterior painting, trim work only. We have a two story house with a steep pitch on the roof. and they made certain that the painting subcontractors were equipped with and used fall protection. As with many projects, there were changes and adjustments as they progressed and they were all taken in stride. Once the project got underway all of our interactions were with the subcontactors, we did not see Nationwide much at all. Overall, the painting quality was good, and they addressed issues that arose.
We did notice, after the job was completed, that they did not clean our all of the gutters, which was part of the scope of work. It became apparent when we noticed grass growing in one of the gutters, in the debris that remained. I could have done a better job monitoring their work, in retrospect.
However, we did have a major problem with our front door, which we had painted a color over the top of the natural wood finish that had been on it for almost 20 years. They dod a good job with sanding a prep, and the door looked great when complete. However, we noticed some small areas where the paint was bubbling up after the paint had dried. The painters were still on site, and they attempted to repair that area. In fact, they attempted to repair the area more than once, with paint bubbling still happening. Then, after a few months, we noticed a couple of areas on the door where the paint was forming larger bubbles, a couple that were the diameter of a tennis ball. We raised the issue with Nationwide, they came out to look at it, and indicated that they would fix it. They even indicated that they wanted to remove the door and take it back to their shop. That did not happen, and they sent out one of their people who indicated that he could fix it without removing the door. Due to excessive heat, we suggested to wait a bit (temps were in the range of 110). I have sent multiple notes to Nationwide, no response. No calls, no emails, no texts. It looks as if I may have to get te door repaired by another party and pursue legal remedies.
