I was very pleased with National Rooter's work, especially the subcontractor he used. He outsources the actual work. In my case, that was Calwest Plumbing - I think the guy's name was Jason, who actually did the work. It was funny as I had asked him separately for an estimate and he told me he had already inspected the job for National Rooter. So I went through National Rooter. This included permits and insurance. The price was not much different going through National or Calwest.
The actual work was to replace the sewer line between the city cleanout (in a median) to my house, including going under the sidewalk and adding a cleanout for me next to the house. The sewer line had been cracked by roots from a city tree, as well as my own oleanders. The city takes no responsibility for damage from the cleanout to the house, even if the damage is from a tree planted by the city on city property. It was rather annoying, especially given that the permit to go under the sidewalk was hundreds of dollars and requires the plumber to have specific insurances holding the city harmless in case anyone stumbles on the sidewalk during construction.
So far, I have had no problem with my new sewer line.
