Before I begin with my post I just want to note I have never posted a negative review on any service or company I have had dealings with before, however I feel I need to let the public know of my terrible experience with Brendan and his Natural Sate Roofing staff. Natural State Roofing was referred to my wife by a friend of hers so she gave Bennet a call to set up an appointment for an inspection on May 19 2017 during this phone call my wife asked if they consume the cost of the deductible since three other roofing companies that contacted us about storm damage stated they did and she was told yes. Bennet and Brendan came by the house after meeting with the insurance adjuster for the claim on the 06 Jun and asked to see the insurance claim paperwork to give me an estimate on the cost to fix my roof. At this time I was told that they would have their big team working on my roof the next Tuesday 13 Jun. On 13 Jun came and went. I did not receive a call to reschedule or even to touch base on what happened to the prior appointment. I waited a few weeks to contact Brenden thinking maybe they had some large jobs and to give them the benefit of the doubt. I contacted Brendan 26 Jun and was told they were planning on starting Wednesday morning 28 Jun. 28 Jun came and went and no contact from Natural State Roofing. My wife then contacted Brenden the following day via text message since this is the only way Brenden can be contacted to reschedule and was told it was hot out and there was possible rain and they didn’t know when they would be able to make it out. Only after she tells him if they don’t have time to work on the roof we can start looking for another roofer to do the job. She is told they will be there the following day at 6 am to start on our roof. When I arrive home from work later that day I met Bennet that was overseeing the job and was told that the gutter guy just returned from vacation and they have no idea when he will be available to completing the gutter work since he is not returning there calls. Up to this point I was not notified that there was a different team that would be completing the gutters or that it would be on a later date. After the roofing team left I went to move my cars back into the driveway and stepped on a nail and began to inspect the driveway for roofing nails. I found 10 nails in my driveway alone that could have very easily flattened my vehicle tires. It was dark at this time so I had to grab a flashlight to start inspecting the rest of the yard and found 50 plus roofing nails that I gathered into a bucket that I took pictures of since this irritated me that I was having to clean my yard after they completed the work. Bennet tells me he will be there the next day to sweep the yard with the magnet to ensure there are no nails in the yard. I have to add that my wife had asked Bennet on the phone prior to the work starting if they did a good job on cleaning up nails since we have two little children and two dogs that play in the yard and was told yes they do a fantastic job. No one showed from Natural State Roofing to clean the yard of nails so I went to Lowes and bought a large rolling magnet to do this myself. Bennet contacted my wife to collect the first check and upon arrival at our house later that afternoon he tells me that Brendan requested us to pay the deductible along with the first check. I was under the under the impression that they were consuming this cost since that was discussed prior to the contract. Bennet tells me he will discuss this with Brendan and get back with us. I paid him the first check minus the deductible at this time. I have to add that the work had not been completed at this time since there was still guttering to replace. I did not receive any kind of receipt of payment or invoice of the work on the roof so we asked Bennet to provide this to us as soon as possible. I had made a mistake on the check and shorted them 500 dollars from the initial payment and received a text message from Brendan that said they would come by and collect the rest the following week. Later that week Bennet contacted my wife and stated they would consume half of the deductible. I was not happy with this since that was not the initial deal made however, I had nothing in writing that stated that so I was prepared to pay this amount. The next week a heavy rain storm came through and that morning I noticed a large amount of nails that had been swept out of the gutters and sitting in the yard at the end of the down spouts along with pieces of shingles and wood scraps. At this point I was tired of being deceived and lied to so I contacted Bennet to come clean the yard and discuss my displeasure with Natural State Roofing. Bennet came by the house and we came to an agreement that I would not pay a deductible and if Brendan was dead set on collecting this he would pay me the deductible out of his own pocket. Part 1of 2

during this time and none of them paid a deductible. Aug 2 the gutter guy shows up at my door randomly to measure my guttering for replacement. I did not receive any notification that he would be coming over from Brendan or anyone from Natural State Roofing. The next day I receive a text from Brendan that says the guttering guy is coming to replace the gutters today after the gutter guy had already made the appointment with myself. Brendan finally shows to collect his final payment of the second check on 5 Oct and tells me at this time Bennet no longer works for Natural State and that he was not obligated to hold to what Bennet and I agreed to. At this time I had asked for the invoice and a receipt of payment in full and he tells me he can send me an email of the invoice and writes a hand written receipt on notebook paper. I am sure that Brendan will try to throw Bennet under the buss for all of the issues we had with Natural State Roofing but at least he cared about the customers enough to try to make things right. Brendan is deceptive and has zero business sense and I would not recommend his services to anyone. I think customer service and honest is just as important as quality of work and hope this posting helps you make an educated decision to look for a better roofing company.
