Update to my following review. We went to arbitration with this contractor to correct the damage he did to my kitchen with the concrete countertops. I have now received a message from the BBB stating that he has now dropped out from the BBB (which means he no longer accredited them, even though his website says he is), and they can no longer honor the arbitration plan that was agreed upon with Doug Thorton, myself and the BBB. STAY AWAY FROM THIS CONTRACTOR.

Hired this contractor to install granite countertops in my kitchen. Paid 3/4 of what was due. Then found out by him that the subcontractor that he hired could not complete the work as promised. He convinced us to put concrete counter tops in our kitchen which we agreed to do. EXTREMELY POOR WORK!!!! They used black caulk all over my kitchen. When they poured the concrete the edges are not straight. They never stained the concrete as promised. The finishing product that they used, was applied incorrectly so never dried so now when we put our coffee cups or anything hot on countertops it sticks and makes an imprint. There are drip marks all over the countertops and the edges. Just very poor craftsmanship. We are now having to hire a new contractor to try and correct everything that this contractor has done which is costing us more money. DO NOT USE THIS CONTRACTOR

Don't hire this company! Doug hired me to pour a stamped concrete patio for one of his customers, the job turned out perfect and he has been promising to pay me for 3 months now! I had to put a lean on his home.

DO NOT USE THIS CONTRACTOR -- This contractor took a materials business for ~$10,000. One check for more than $4,000 and the other check for more than $5,000. From what I'm reading on build zoom, it looks like he does this on a regular basis. Still to date, he has not paid these hot checks.

We hired this man to remodel our home in 2008. He took approximately $20,000 from our building fund and used it for his own purposes. We were told it was to pay back taxes and to pay for his mother's funeral. It left us with a lien against our home from a subcontractor that required over a year's worth of legal action before it was resolved and we could continue with the project. I would recommend you not hire this contractor.

With all the devastation we have had with hurricane Harvey the last thing you need is to use a contractor who will steal your money and not perform services you have paid for.
My story begins seeking professional contractors to build a room above our garage. We live in The Meadows (Barn style garages) in League City. We had contacted multiple contractors to complete our build however my in-laws decided they wanted to use Statewide Builders & Supply, LLC. Mr. Noble Douglas Thornton will socialize with you and talk about the good old days with family here and there and come across like your best friend. Does this sound familiar? He provided us with a proposal after a few days and then came with a “draw” schedule for payment along with the attachment of the detail items I prepared to be completed for our build. We made the first payment and then nothing happened. He stated had to wait for permits, get the people lined up, someone went to ER about eye, I have come to find out there were many excuses among the way we encountered over the next several months.
The kicker was when a sub-contractor he used approached us and stated that Mr. Thornton presented him with a check that he cashed and a few days later the bank called to state the check was NSF.
We have lost a total of $16,000.00
We went to mediation with Better Business Bureau and made an agreement to be reimbursed over the next 12 months in a payment plan and Mr. Thornton did not make the first payment and none to date. There were several excuses and promises to call back and make payment however nothing ever happened.
I filed a civil small claims court action and Mr. Thornton had not even responded to the court.
To this date two of the sub-contractors have not been paid in the amount of $5,900.00.
I strongly suggest if you use this business your agreement will be paid in full after services are rendered. He has no working capital and uses your money to fund other projects (this is my speculation I have no proof).
I have many things I can say about this business but choose my words carefully and strongly suggest based on past experience you do not use them.
There are multiple comments from other that have used this business and have experienced the same thing I have. Good luck and be warned!
I would be more than happy to talk to you live if you would like I can be reached with an email address of: [email protected]
