I rarely leave negative reviews, but my experience with Nomin Flooring was so poor—both financially and ethically—that I feel obligated to share. I’m out $16,000 largely due to their failure to follow standard contractor practices and what appears to be dishonest behavior.
They installed engineered hardwood flooring with prominent knots throughout, making a high-end property I was preparing for sale look cheap. I was never shown a contract or asked to sign one, nor was I informed the flooring would contain knots. Nomin later claimed my realtor had said I had been told about the knots and that I had said that would be fine, but I actually never had any such conversation with the realtor. Nor was the realtor authorized to make decisions like that for me.
When I asked about paying for the floorboards myself by credit card, I was told I’d need to buy them in person and would incur extra fees—yet a local supplier later confirmed I could have paid them directly and that pickup would have been free. Nomin quoted me $5.39/sq ft for the “cheaper” grade of flooring, but the local supplier listed the higher-quality Select grade at just $5.19/sq ft including tax. This raises serious questions about pricing transparency.
Lastly, the contractor promised to meet me onsite to fix the knot issue, but he not only backed out once I arrived, but his installer was also there, and the latter was unprofessional, aggressive, and unlike any service provider I’ve dealt with before.
This experience has been both costly and stressful. I would recommend proceeding with extreme caution.
