NuTone HVAC unit (made by Nortek which also makes Broan, Maytag, fridgedaire, gibson, westinghouse, kelvinator, philco) installed 5/15 had multiple defects in manufacture including restricted servicing valve and sticking reversing valve which caused terribly loud noises during "defrost cycle". nortek refused to take any responsibility for their manufacturing errors. Initially they required the installer to spend his time and money trying to fix their mistakes. When he refused to have anything more to do with them, they required me to pay for the labor to fix their mistake (which would have cost around $1000). they claim that when a unit fails while in service, they are not responsible to pay for labor to fix. The unit didn't fail - IT NEVER WORKED! It should also be noted that nortek's refusal to take responsibility for their own products has caused most HVAC pros here in central Virginia to refuse to either install or work on nortek manufactured products.
