Whereas NRG solar panels are working, their contractors are a bit careless. what happened here was when they applied the sealant on the roof they tracked it into the house and damaged the carpet on the 3rd floor landing as well as the main lobby. Ofcourse they were gracious enough to agree to replace the entire stairwell carpeting as the one there was discontinued and can no longer be gotten.What bothered me is this - I get a call from NRG a few weeks ago and they want to send me a 1099 form for that almost $2000 they paid me to replace the carpet. They must be out of their minds as this was NOT income earned but to replace the carpet that they themselves damaged. I was told by my accountant to ignore it.Perhaps this was an isolated case of negligence or carelessness and I'm hoping that it is the case as I have recommended them even after this incident. They did make good on the replacement with almost no fuss.Now for the panels, they of course work best in the summer where its sunnier. and I see an average savings of approx $30-$40/mo. In the winter where there is less sun the saving is much less and sometimes is negligible. Over all though, there is a decent amount of savings plus you do get that federal tax break of $5000.
