    I hired NRG to build a 16’ X 30’ addition to my detached garage. There was to be no water or electric. No insulation or finished walls in the interior in the contract. The project took 11 months. There was slate grey shingles on my chestnut brown garage. The roof joists were spaced so far that it did not pass inspection until it was corrected. The siding and gutters were re-purposed from the original garage where new matching siding and gutters were specified. All of the construction trash, lunch trash, beer cans were thrown in the back yard. I complained for 4 months and supplied a dumpster before the trash was dealt with. The ridge vent, shingles and siding all had to be redone. At one point I was ghosted for 5 weeks. I had to order the garage doors myself and had to arrange delivery. I thought the salesman was the project coordinator but apparently there was none. In the end the project ballooned $3000 as they said they didn't account for the grade (NOT to pay for re-doing screw ups according to NRG) without any authorization from me (minus a credit for gutters that were never installed correctly). NRG used the cheapest labor and materials possible. Two of three sub-contractor crews were fired. They did not care. I feel I was more patient than I should have been. This was an aggravating, stressful, miserable experience.

    Wall removal between kitchen and great room.

    Started out with engineering drawings from an independent engineer. Unfortunately the drawings were not usable. Pete Perez was able to get a local firm to redo the drawings and get them to the city for approval. Demo and structural work went quickly, however, the permit and inspection from the city took months. Drawings were approved on Dec 3 2020 but inspection was not until February 3rd. which delayed drywall and finish work until the after that. Drywall and finish work were done by Feb 8th, however, when I went to paint, the finish was not good. Pete quickly got a more senior person out to inspect and skim coat the work to fix it. Primer was finished up today and it looks much better. Jeff, the second worker who led the framing is a super guy.

    Overall a good experience with Pete and Jeff. If the drawings I had would have worked and the city would have moved faster it would have been super.

    Covid has made everything hard and slow. I would recommend NRG, and would use them again.
