This review is going to end up being very similar to the other reviews on here, but here it goes.
Michael Copping is completely inept, shady, and crooked. Lied through his teeth countless times about the timeline for various construction projects, saying it would take 1 week, and ending up taking 5 weeks. Lied about scope of work and what it included, and then every time I spoke with him regarding something I thought was included in the bid, the price went up $400.
While he was replacing my tenants floors, he mishandled the water heater, cracking an internal part, didn't tell anyone and put my tenants in danger with a gas leak. Cost me $4800 to fix because it needed to be brought up to code. Not only that, but left my garage open, and tenants windows open, and doors unlocked multiple times during the process.
His crew took down comforters out of boxes and slept on my couch with no shirts, requiring the comforters to be taken for dry cleaning, which were never returned. After the incident he told me this wasn't the first time something like this had happened with the crew.
Failed to complete work on the exterior repair and paint, leaving parts of my building unpainted, shoddily fixed or not fixed at all, and damaging my security cameras in the painting process.
When I began to confront him about some of these things, he flew off the handle threatening me and screaming over the phone. I had to threaten him with arbitration to get out of the contract.
DO NOT hire this guy. I'm begging you.

WHAT A NIGHTMARE. Michel Copping, as a representative of Ocean Harbor Builders, has provided us with inadequate services and subpar workmanship. He is not a licensed contractor, yet acts in a manner to convey to the clients of Ocean Harbor Builders that he is the principal of the company. Carolyn Copping who is the actual license holder of the business (CA Contractors Lic. # 1038475), to my knowledge, has never been onsite at either one of my properties and furthermore does nothing to oversee the work performed by Michael Copping or any of the subcontractors they hire. As a result the jobs I allowed them to finish were done poorly and many items I have had to or will need to in the near future hire someone to either fix or completely re-do.
They were supposed to have our two houses done in December 2021 and January 2022 but here it is May 2022 and they're still not done. (Yes, that's several months of mortgage payments and carrying costs for two empty houses!) After realizing they had no clue what they were doing, so many things done incorrectly and usually went untouched after I mentioned things that needed fixing and finally the big one was the nearly $20,000 we spent on having all new windows installed for two houses and HALF OF THEM LEAKED! This was the final straw, I gave them about 2 more weeks to tie up some loose ends and canned them on April 1st 2022. Now we have had to hire others to finish off the big items and I've had to spend so much time doing some things to get the houses ready myself. I've filed complaints with the CSLB and their surety bonds but who knows if I'll actually see any reparations from them or the $12,000 + dollars they owe us in liquidated damages. DON'T TOUCH THEM WITH A 10 FOOT POLE!! Michael will lie through his shiny white veneers and tell you anything you want to hear just so you can keep sending them money. -

SLOPPY. DID NOT USE DROP CLOTHS; DRIPPED PAINT OVER 30' OF REDWOOD DECKING, THEN USED PRESSURE TO CLEAN PAINT. THIS LEFT "SCUFF MARKS" IN THE STAIN. STAPLED THE PLASTIC SHEETING TO WOOD INSTEAD OF TAPING. CONSTANTLY CANCELLED WORKERS AT OUR PLACE TO SEND TO A BIGGER JOB. TOOK 1/2" PLYWOOD AND W3OULDN'T REPLACE; SPLATTERED AMERICAN & USMC FLAGS AND WOULDN'T REPLACE. TOOK 3 DAYS TO CLEANUP PAINT DRIPPING AROUND HOUSE, AND WERE KNOCKING ON DOOR FOR PAYMENT-EVEN ASKKED THAT PAYMENT BE SENT WITH WORKERS. VERY UNPROFESSIONAL!!!

I have debated for months on whether or not to write this, however, after months of being in a legal dispute with Ocean Harbor Builders, I feel it is my responsibility to save others from the pain we are going through both financially and emotionally.
Ocean Harbor Builders are dishonest and unethical and completely took advantage of our trust. Without writing a novel here, I will break it down to the main points. The lead us to believe they had a competent working crew, it was just 1 man, Michael. His work is subpar. They collected payment without work ever being started or completed on those items in the invoice. They never renewed their general liability insurance, which they were required per our contract to have for the duration of our project. They did not complete our project in a timely manner. Well as of today, it is still not completed and we signed our contract in February of 2019. It was estimated to be an 8 month project. We understand delays will happen, but when we terminated our contract with Ocean Harbor Builders in May of 2020, we still had not received permits. Another very important note to make, they started construction without permits on areas of our home, which left our home structurally compromised. When we came to them with our concerns, they would blame everyone else.
I highly urge anyone that is thinking about working with them to go a different direction. Read their Google reviews in addition to this review and it clearly paints a picture for how Ocean Harbor Builders conduct business.

We hired Michael Copping in August of 2021 to paint our house. He told us it was a 2 1/2 week job. Guess what, it’s still not done and it’s been almost a year since we hired him.
Not only did he fire multiple crews on our job, but had paint mixed the wrong color and painted a large portion of our house with it. We finally got him to fix that, but he still missed a large spot that we will have to take care of. The trim around our windows was only done on the face, edges were not painted and drips everywhere, even on window screens.
He and his crew left ladders against our house, along with open paint cans and lots of trash. Michael snuck onto our property early one morning to retrieve his ladders and we went outside to talk to him. We asked why he didn’t knock on the door or tell us he was coming by. His response: “Oh I didn’t know you were home!” Our cars were in the driveway.
We have been chasing him for months trying to get things finished. It’s excuse after excuse and now he won’t respond at all. We have to hire someone else to finish the sloppy work he was paid for. Carolyn is of no help either. They are crooks and liars.
Horrible experience and I’d give zero stars if I could.
