BEWARE OF THIS CONTRACTOR...
We are having multiple issues with the contractor we hired for home renovations. To date, he has been paid a total of $17,000 toward a $20,000 job; which is 85% of the money with only about 40% of the work done. My 75yo mother and homeowner is the person who is contracted with him. At this point, I am deeply concerned that she has been taken advantage of due to her age and inexperience with dealing with contractors. A job that was estimated to take 3-4 weeks is now at week 6, and not a single area of the home renovation has been fully completed.
Many things have been started, such as bathrooms we have been unable to utilize for several weeks now. However, nothing is finished and a lot of areas need to be done over because of the poor quality and carelessness of the work. I relied heavily on the BuildZoom site to refer me to trusted professionals. Too many promises have been made but not enough results witnessed. Mr. Semiday, the owner and general contractor of Odds 2 Ends Home Improvement, has been showing up with his workers less hours and days, and has slowly decreased his workforce over the course of the job from 4 to 2 workers. I have lost faith that he is capable of completing the work as requested.
There are noticeable attempts to cut back on supply and labor costs for things that were supposed to be included in the original contract. Additionally, the carpeting was removed but never disposed of. We ended up paying a disposal fee of $300 to an outside company for that and other related debris to be picked up.
Mr. Semiday has stopped responding to my text messages and requests for a face to face meeting when I am available (evenings and weekends). Phone conversations are not leading to any resolution. May have to hire other contractor(s) to get this job done satisfactorily and in a timely manner.
WOULD NOT REHIRE!
