    bathroom remodel

    11/2020. A small business with poor customer service. The regular staff on the job site were great. The owner is dishonest.

    We had one particular instance where a new person with no professional skilled painting experience, left significant damage for other regular staff to repair the next day. This was only taken care of because we demanded that no further work be done until the damage and mess was corrected. The owner was planning on sending the same employee back with someone else the next and stated they "would assess after." He stopped into the house the day it happened, and saw part of the mess, but left the employee there alone.

    Staff didn't keep each other informed about job specifics. Office staff actually made excuses. Several email inquires were ignored. When a customer is paying on time, and honoring a contract, they better care. They are being paid to know about the job specifics.

    We honored the contract fully because we mostly liked the work until then. Then a staff member flushed blue contractor paper towels down the toilet. We found out when our system backed up on a Saturday a few days afterward, and sewage flowed out of the lower level, into the garage and down the driveway. We couldn't use our plumbing and had to have an emergency plumber come out. He showed photos of the blue paper towels from the scope camera that were in the pipes out front of the house. They blocked the drainage and back-flowed into the toilet downstairs anytime plumbing was used anywhere in the house. This bill was $868.00. It took the weekend to clean up. We presented the bill and photos to the owner and he agreed to pay for it.

    On the final statement, an over $800 increase on the labor side appeared without explanation. Only the materials were itemized, and that accounting was murky. My spouse is a PhD in Math. Numbers don't lie. After running numbers for labor & materials from the 1st & final estimate, 75% was labor & not itemized. When we demanded itemization, the owner refused. Stopping short at calling this "suspect" is being generous.

    He offered a 5% discount on the project final total, in addition to reimbursement for the plumbing fiasco. We accepted and paid it. We were sick of dealing with them. We do not recommend them based upon the dishonest conduct of the owner.

    As of 2/2021: No permits were ever filed for any part of this job, like the owner was supposed to do, until we found out in 1/2021. The job finished 11/2020. The owner stated that he thought we wanted the job done without permits. Note this is a licensed contractor who "completed" a professional job, received payment in full and on time, but did not honor the contract. Worse, he actually tried to shake us down for $500 more to file the permit applications that he was supposed to do. His justification for this was that permits were never a line item in the contract. If the reader has fully read this review, it was noted that he could not and flat-out refused to provide documentation for questionable increases, and for the labor that was 75% of the bill. My spouse reminded him of this, and he filed the permits after we informed him that we also spoke directly with the permit office. STEER CLEAR OF THIS COMPANY

    The creative process of remodeling overwhelms me. The professionalism and patience I received, made this a rewarding experience. With 4 kids, our main bathroom gets an insane amount of traffic and was in desperate need of a makeover. We are budgeted for one project at a time, but will be lifelong customers of Only Bathrooms!

    Remodel bathroom

    Communication with Only Bathrooms was difficult from the moment a contact was signed to remodel our master bathroom. The only point of contact with the company was through the vice president, Larry, who was slow to respond, often taking up to a week, and then offered a variety of excuses. The company did not send a copy of the signed contract -- it was "misplaced" on the same day it was signed! After a few weeks of communication difficulties, I realized this problem was not going to get better and decided to end the contract before any work was done. The company stonewalled me about getting back any of the approximately $4,000 I paid as an initial deposit. I read reviews about the company before making a decision, but did not realize until later that one of the "glowing" reviews posted online in another forum was written by the vice president under his name, but without mention of his tie to the company.

    We had an excellent experience with Only Bathrooms. We had appointments with 5 different remodeling companies about installing a bathroom and wet bar in our finished basement. Four of them said it couldn't be done because of a lack of existing water hook up and negative slope to push out waste water. Only Bathrooms said they could do it and they were right. They did a fabulous job on our basement, making it classy but within our budget. We will be using them again for an upstairs bathroom remodel.

    I am beyond pleased with the quality of work and the service that I received from Only Bathrooms. I had an outdated bathroom in my basement that desperately needed renovating. I don't have an eye for design, which didn't turn out to be a problem at all. The representative was patient with me and ultimately I ended up with a brand new bathroom that my wife loves. She's happy, I'm happy, and all is right with the world.
