    Chimney Repair
    $2,000

    DO NOT HIRE ROBIN TAFOYA!

We hired Rob / Pacific Design Masonry LLC to complete chimney repair and waterproofing work. He was contracted to re-point joints, pour a new cement crown, and install counter-flashing around the chimney.

Rob was nice enough the first time he showed up to meet with us to bid the project, but that ended quickly. When his estimate was approved, he said the work would be completed in 2-3 days by the end of that coming weekend. Once the project was awarded and initial deposit paid, every day he would say he was coming to work on the chimney and would never show up, always for a different excuse. This went on for more than a month before he finally completed his work so we could have the roof replaced.

After the new roof was installed, we quickly had Rob back out to finish the last piece of work he was contracted to do – adding counter-flashing to the chimney to make it waterproof. He cut numerous corners on this work – leaving exposed cuts, using the wrong flashing material, improperly caulking it, essentially leaving large gaps between the flashing and chimney where rain leaked into the attic and first floor ceilings all around the chimney. The water damage ruined the plaster ceilings around the entire front, back and side of the chimney in our entryway and living room.

In working with Rob, we found him to be:
    - Unreliable: would say he was coming to work, bringing a crew, completing project by a date and never would – very little he said was ever true
    - An Poor Mason: despite the experience he claims to have, we’ve collected second opinions from masonry and roofing professionals who say the job was completely botched – including the cement crown he installed cracking within months and the failed counter-flashing that has led to significant water damage in our home.
    - Dishonest: We’ve tried to work with Rob, we’ve given him multiple opportunities to redo the work, but we have zero confidence he could fix it at this point. In fact, he actually agreed to pay us back for what he charged. Yet again, texting each day that a check would be delivered and never showing up. At this point, he has stopped responding to communications all together and is not doing anything to make the situation right. TERRIBLE TO WORK WITH.

DO NOT HIRE HIM - he is completely unreliable, all the work he has done is already failing, and he has truly done more harm than help to our home.

    Retaining wall
    $6,800

Contractor took the initial payment of $2000 to Money Tree and after that barely showed up to the point where we told him we didn’t need him anymore, we were promised a team to get our retaining wall done, he sent one guy who didn’t know what he was doing and was sitting most of the time waiting for either instructions or for his boss to show up.
We put a stop on the check(which he had already cashed at Money Tree) and now Money Tree is coming after us.
Be aware he is a scammer
