    water restoration, asbestos abatement

they were able to get the job done, but with many glitches along the process that you probably don't want to experience them yourself.

lack of communication: did not always give me notice what is going to happen in advance. a few times the technician showed up at the house and surprised my tenants.

they packed and took away my tenants' cookware without any notice. My tenants were able to cook and I ended up paying for some of their food supply. this company never said a word about this issue.

They did not return the cookware until I asked them. that was days after the project was completed. poor project management.

my tenant reported a broken glass cooktop after the project. Pacific Rim denied that they did it but was not able to show pictures clearly showing the damage before they did any work in the house. They claimed that they saw the broken glass cooktop upon arrival but did not say anything until I questioned them about the damage. how can a home owner prove that everything in your home was in good condition after you identify something is broken after Pacific Rim finished the project? I would like to get some tips from you guys.

I am more than happy to provide the email communication between us if you want.

They promised to provide a reconstruction quote but I have to agree to pay them 10% of whatever amount they quote and I won't know how much unless I sign an agreement to get me on the hook for the 10% fee.

    Verified Hire
    Decks and Porches project

They asked for half of the full job up front. No problem. Then they did a very minor part of the job and asked for more money. They claimed that it took 40 hours to put a new top on a deck that measured 11 feet by 3 feet (5 men working 8 hours on it.) I asked them to show me how 5 men could even fit into the space since there was a fence on one side and the house on the other. They refused to answer and immediately threatened a collection agency since I questioned them. Oh, and the person who bid the job came and looked at it and said that part of it would have to be redone anyway. I consulted a lawyer who said it was cheaper to let them keep the money they had (though it was exorbitant) than to fight it.

Response from Pacific Rim CR LLC February 13, 2018
Mrs. Leander is just as important to us as any of our customers so I’ll take a moment as CEO of Pacific Rim CR LLC to respond. Our company prides itself in the work that we do and the integrity that we bring to the industry. We’ve successfully completed over 115 construction/remodel projects in 2017. This stands alone as our only negative review. As of the date of this response we have over 20 unsolicited, 5 star reviews on various other forums. It should also be noted that our employees and their families prosper because of our volume of work, and that 95% of that work comes from word of mouth referrals. We have documentation and collaboration to support the following rebuttals: The scope of work and contract was signed October 5th. At that time Pacific Rim did get funds to begin the project as we do with every job. Originally it was a deck and sunroom combined as one job, however, it was agreed that we divide the project into two separate phases. Frist phase was the deck and was to be completed prior to Phase Two beginning. It was agreed that Mrs. Leander would purchase materials separately and we would only bill her for labor. In short, the negotiated price was only for labor. We agreed and signed a contract for $60.00 per hour for labor. It was agreed that Pacific Rim would keep track of the man hours worked for said billing. In actuality, we purchased the material that Mrs Leander selected, on her behalf, per her approval and then provided her with the receipts and documentation of the cost. This documentation was provided, along with the labor hours in her final invoice. Mrs Leander was having a function at her house and requested the job be completed rapidly, before the 21st. In the construction world that is an extremely quick timeframe. Pacific Rim accommodated her and actually completed the entire deck in one 9 hour day before October 21st. Start to finish, new deck, one day. It took 4 men to accomplish this at a combined total of “36 man hours”. The job entailed: removing the old decking, fixing two supports, rodent proofing, laying new decking, disposing of all debris from the old decking. Here in lies some inaccuracies with Mrs Leanders complaint. It didn’t take 40 hours to complete it only took 9. We billed her for 36 man hours not 40 man hours. There were only four men not five. The job wasn’t simply to put “new top on deck” it was much more involved than that. It wasn’t a “very minor part of the job” that was completed, rather phase one was completed, in its entirety, in one day. In addition, the number people used was at her behest, she requested that the job be completed as soon as possible, which is exactly what occurred. Phase 1 was completed on about the 20th of October. On October 24th Logan, from Pacific Rim spoke to Kristine and she stated that she was happy with phase 1 and was eager to start phase 2. She also indicated she wanted to have us bid on some work at an older beach house in Anacortes. On Nov 11th Marie our project manager visited Mrs Leander to discuss phase 2. That meeting led to Pacific Rims subcontractors deciding they weren’t interested in working with Mrs Leander any further. On 11/10 (19 days after Phase 1 was completed) our office issued an invoice for the remaining bill due on Phase 1. She had already paid $2,640, the additional money owed was $435.00. If Pacific Rm had not purchases the materials on her behalf, Mrs Leander wouldn’t have owed anything. Kristine responded on 11/11 with concerns about the invoice. Kristine was completely unresponsive to further, multiple request for payment until Nov 21st. Then after an additional week of delay and conversations, our office emailed her again requesting payment. This email, sent on the 28th also made Kristine aware that the bill was over 38 days due and would be sent to collections if not settled. Some more inaccuracies with Mrs Leanders Complaint. We didn’t “immediately threaten a collection agency” at any point. Several emails and phone calls transpired, and collections wasn’t a factor until the past due amount became over 30 days delinquent on Nov 28th. Nov 28th was two weeks and three days after Kristine voiced her invoice concerns, certainly not immediately. Our office never “refused to answer” her questions regarding the number of people or hours worked. Kenni and Mike and Marie in our office all spoke to her directly about this specific issue. Kenni followed, at least one of those conversations, with an email one of which was sent at approximately 11:15 on Nov. 28th , outlining our position and clarifying for Mrs Leander the invoice she received. In conclusion: As the CEO of Pacific Rim CR LLC I am proud, very proud, of the work and effort my team puts in and the integrity with which we conduct ourselves. It’s worth noting that Pacific Rim did not send Mrs Leander to collections. Collections are a responsibility that is entirely mine and after discussing this project with my team I decided collections would not be true reflection of who we are. Instead I decided, back in early December 2017, that we could have been more precise with Kristine on a few points and regardless of where the fault lies, the expectation is excellence from the Pac Rim Team, thus we decided not to pursue the past due invoice. I wish Mrs Leander the best. Frank Gaborik CEO Pacific Rim CR LLC
