John J. Torres did not file for any permits to replace the roof, demo, or install partial electrical. We had a contract for 30K remodel where he received 15K for materials. He did a partial demo, bought 5 pieces of wood siding, and added 4 electrical lines in the kitchen that were not hooked up to the electrical panel. He walked out on the job and will not be returning any of the money (you can guess the legal reason why) and will not be offering any assistance to ensure the job is completed. Highly recommend against.
He does not have a Bond, his insurance is for liability only, Hawk Towers is not under his name as the owner (although he will claim.. Someone very very close to him is listed).
Make sure any contractor you are working with gets permits, has a bond and has insurance. Give small amounts for each part of the job. If possible, pay half and a half for materials in person to minimize liabilities. Wish Texas backed homeowners more and people like John were held liable for their actions.
