Shawn Christopher Burns
Sole Owner
We hired Shawn to do a master bathroom remodel. We had to wait a few months for him to start the project, but we were gathering materials and were willing to wait. I emailed him during that time to ask some questions and after 5 days of not hearing from him, I emailed again asking how we could get our questions answered. He fired back that he was busy with jobs and that he was moving and that those things had priority and that I needed to understand that the things going on in his life were more important..
The day he was suppose to start he didn't come. He emailed early saying his wife had to go to work so he had to stay home with his kids. Then he showed up late every day and left after 3-5 hours. We talked to him about giving our project his full attention and things got better.
Then he went camping with his family Then he went to Universal Studios with his family So, we wait.
Project done, but some problems. He made an appointment to come fix the things that were wrong, but didn't show up. I emailed him and his response was, "Sorry 'bout that." He said he would come over the following Monday, but I had already lost work waiting for him on Friday, so I suggested he come Sat. a.m. He responded that that probably would not happen. I emailed him my frustration over losing a day's pay and then being expected to lose another. Without saying anything, he rang the doorbell at 7:20 Sat morning Rude, but I just wanted the toilet fixed and then be done with him.
As well as the toilet running, there was also grout splashed on the shower walls and floor. He adjusted the toilet and did some scraping, but did not get all of the splashed grout. I also pointed out that the glass mosaic tiles on the wall were not even, but that I would try not to see it. He said if I needed it fixed he would do it.
Two days later I found there was a mosaic tile on the shower floor missing. He had filled the 1 x 1" hole with grout. There was another floor tile tilted and tipped. Shawn said that is typical, but if I couldn't live with it he would fix it. Really? Don't know on what planet tiles that are not straight and flat are acceptable.
Now, we are trying to get him back, but he won't commit to a day and time, saying he has family things to take care of. Seems there is no rush to correct the problems once he has his money.
He washed white stuff out on top of our lava rock, so that is ruined. Our bush is while, but it will probably survive alright.
Don't know what we have to do to get him to do the work. He should have never left the job with a missing tile, and splashed grout stuck to the finished shower, and uneven backsplash. I am concerned now about the quality of the work he did that we can't see. We hope it is all done well. Time will tell.
Shawn is big talk, but not enough action.
