    Backyard Fence

My experience with Peerless Fence has been horrible. My quote was $2995 for a standard 4 ft high scalloped fence with 2 inch gap between panels. I paid first installment of $1500. They arrived to build my fence in the winter with 3 inches of snow on the ground against my request to wait till spring. The spacing was 3 inch which they insisted was what was quoted. And because of the snow on the ground came to see when it thawed that there were continuous gaps of 6 to 3 inches on the bottom of the fence throughout the perimeter. The idea of a fence is for containment. Nobody buys a fence that animals come and go at will. They haven't made any attempt to fix the issue or admit their mistake. I have tried working with them multiple times to remedy this before making second/final payment without any attempt to fix or discount due to their bad work. They are now threatening a lien on my property and collections. There are many other choices DO NOT CHOOSE THIS COMPANY! I have pictures.

Fence does not hold up well. They should have secured bottom with more secured tension wire. All coming apart, and our dog has pulled on it all. Man said he would send for a repair kit (at of course a lot more money) and would come with it the next week. After about 3 or 4 weeks, I called him, and he said he forgot. Who forgets something like that???? He then told me he would order it and come over within the next week. That was the week of Christmas. It is now Jan. 1 and now follow up, call or anything. Not happy.

    Install a vinyl privacy fence
    $9,500

Here is an update that may change your view of Peerless Fence. 8/31/2020 Dean, the owner of Peerless Fence reached out to me and told me he really wants to get all my issues taken care of. He was aware of a large pile of unanswered complaints that he was taking the time to go through and contact each owner personally. He explained how COVID caught them off guard and they were understaffed because of it. He agreed there was no good reason that my complaints were ignored for so long, and apologized. He came out to my house the very next day and looked at each issue I pointed out. The very next day at 8am, a truck pulled up and 2 guys fixed all my fence issues in under 30 mins. It's too bad it took so long and so much frustration because all said and done, I am very happy with the final product. The fence is beautiful, very sturdy, and worth the price I paid.

A quick review of Peerless Fence is simply… Don’t hire. The communication is terrible. When they finally do get around to putting up your fence, it is done quick and messy. Pray you have no issues after it is up because you will NOT get them back out to take care of it.

Now for the long review if you are interested in the details. 10/21/2019 I was told they would start construction of my fence. I took the day off so I would be home in case they needed me, but they never showed up and never notified me. It wasn’t until a week later that they actually made it out but only put up half the fence. Two days later they were supposed to come back to finish so I again took the day off, but yet again, no show and no notification. They did show up the next day un announced and discovered they miscalculated what they needed to complete the fence and had an issue with the gate that I was told beforehand would not be an issue. On 10/31 the fence was “complete”, however I was not pleased with a few sections where it was obvious the workers were rushing to get the job done. Parts were cut badly, and a large gap was left between the new fence and the neighbor’s old fence that I was told would be taken care of. My yard was covered in plastic and vinyl shavings. Piles and piles of shavings. There were pebbles and chunks of concrete scattered throughout the lawn as well. I had to contact the company to see if it really was done because stones were left under the fence in one area where they had it propped up so the concrete could dry. I had to remove those. I signed nothing to approve the “complete” job. The city inspector came out and noted that there needs to be at least a 1” gap under the fence in all areas. This was not done and frankly they should have been aware of it because I provided them all the city regulations before start. I sent the salesman I had been in contact with, Robert, an email letting him know about the issues and he said they would be taken care of and included the person who manages the work to be done on the emails, Don. Each following week for a month I reached out to all involved asking for a start date. No one responded. It wasn’t until I said my neighbor is giving me problems due to the large gap left in his back yard that Robert responded. Robert again asked Don to take care of this and give me a date on 06/01. No emails until 6/11 where they asked me for the permit again that was sent with the initial job request. I reach out asking if this is a mistake because I already provided this information months ago. Robert tells me they need to know exactly what the city needs to get approval. I let him know that I don’t care anymore about the city 1” issue. I already replanted bushes along the fence that have been there for several months now and if they come out to correct the 1” issue, knowing how sloppy they were before my bushes would be destroyed. I tell him I only want the cosmetic issues and the fence gap taken care of at this point. Robert includes everyone again and says that I have “Made this job a lot easier…” and “get something on the calendar ASAP.” Another 2 weeks passes with no communication from Don. I don’t even know if this person exists because I never heard from him once. I send yet another email asking for a date to be put in the calendar… anything! Two more weeks pass and still nothing. I send another email to all involved and tell them I am very frustrated and expect some sort of professionalism. It is very unfortunate that they are a company that ignore the customer once the bill paid in full. That was on 7/15. Today is 8/20 and I never heard another thing from anyone. I think it is safe to say they have completely written me off. So, if you have read all this you then understand how imperative to your own sanity it is that you avoid this company at all costs. Totally unprofessional. I also noticed that their Angie’s Listing is gone.

I would definitely recommend Peerless Fence. A friend of mine form work recommended them to me. Their bid was very competitive to 2 other companies I reached out for bids. The crew did the entire job in 1 day. They cleaned up the yard nicely when they were done. I had to submit the plans and get the permit for the fence but it did not take long as I already had a survey. They put the fence up according to the survey and permit plans.

Our fence is a decorative fence around the entire house mainly used to keep the kids safe in our yard. It is copper wood which last better then cedar and I will be staining it white probably next year. The fence is almost 3 years old and looks great. They use galvanized Ardox nails which is a plus as I have seen other fences that just used regular nails that pop out an rust. I added some stainless steel screws to the gate openings to strengthen the gate/pickets.
